13 games over a 2 year period is a losing record.

LOL at Henne being viewed as a stud. There was a reason he got shipped out of Miami.

Injury if I'm not mistaken.  You're the Fins fan, though.

They knew who Henne was by then and how far he could take the team. They let Henne go and ended up taking Tannehill behind Luck and Robert Griffin III.

Lol, just saying he was wanted so much in Miami, they let him leave as a free agent without making an offer. Anyone who expected Henne to light it up in Jax must have grown up as a die-hard Michigan fan.

Of the three Jaguar's QBs I saw play last night, I would put Bortles at #3 on the depth chart.

Why because he was 3/5 with a dropped pass and a throwaway through the back of the endzone?

or because he only played 14 snaps that were mostly designed to showcase Fournette (9 runs / 5 passes)?

or because he didn't connect on any deep routes against 2nd and 3rd stringers?
Help me out with your logic.
I feel that he ran the plays that more closely match his abilities.  Handing off to a back, only playing 14 snaps to keep from boring everyone, and protecting his delicate ego.  Can't you say that the other two QBs had to play with lesser people in supporting roles? I'm sure you being being MJs leading critic, you know more than anyone else, and I shouldn't have an opinion.  However, as I said, I would put Bortles 3rd on the depth chart.  I hope I'm wrong, as I am a Jaguar fan, but I think (my opinion) Bortles will be 3rd on most fan's depth charts by mid season.  But what do I know?  I'm not a Westsider.
You do know he isn't calling the plays, right?  You do know they have the whole game largely planned out for position battles, situation testing, etc....?

By your logic, Corey Grant should be the starter over Fournette.

6. In the past 2 seasons Bortles has thrown 20 TDs and 19 interceptions, and only 27 completions over 25  yards.

Can you explain this? I tried but can't really decipher what you're saying.
Sorry, I should have said in the first half of games in past 2 years.

7. The Jaguar front office has given Bortles a bye never seen at any other position, especially one as important as QB.  They picked-up the 5th year option for Blake at the tune of $19 million.

I'm not going to respond to all of these, and I'm not sure whether or not Bortles is the answer or not. With that said, I'll give you two QBs to counter this point: Alex Smith and Joey Harrington.

Smith went through Six Offensive Systems in Six years, and most people thought he was done. He's now with the Chiefs, and while no one thinks he's going to challenge Manning or Brady, he's made himself into a pretty good QB.

Harrington was sort of the same thing in Detroit, though less Offensive Systems. History shows he wasn't a good candidate to dump money into.

Though there are more examples in both directions, I present these two to show that Bortles investment (adjusted a little for NFL Salary inflation; percentage of the salary cap would be a much truer measure) is hardly unprecedented for a QB with this limited success.
Steve, I can see your point.  I'm saying should you change/blame offensive coaches for the play, especially the mechanics, of a QB?

I'm pretty sure every arm chair QB in NorthWest Florida has said the same thing:

behind an average or worse offensive line it doesn't matter who carries the ball, they will not succeed. Best case scenario for Jags is an NFL average O line. Am I right?

I noticed Leonard Fournette has ZERO SEC Championships in his trophy case. Now he can finally prove himself.

Also all the guys on 1010 XL who are watching all the practices open to the media say BB is at best average.  If you are expecting anything else than what you got the last 3 years you are probably going to be disappointed.

I can't understand that either.  I think the Jaguars should have let Bortle's 5th year alone.  They need to draft a better QB next Spring.  They are not going to admit that Bortles might not be the QB they thought he was.  Most of the so called experts think he is a bust.  For once, the talking heads may be right.

Do you really want to stand behind our o-line snap after snap considering their performance over the past few years? haha

FYI Chad Henne has not thrown a pass in a regular season game for the Jags in over 2 years.

Fournette will not play tomorrow night.

The Jaguars are kind of stuck with Bortles for now. Unless Allen all of a sudden becomes the next Tom Brady or Dak Prescott, that position will be the weak link on the team again.

It feels like the Bortles chatter is at an all time high right now. Not just locally. It's a topic on ESPN as well.

I have no doubt that this time next year, Bortles will be on someone else's roster. And the Jaguars QB will probably be someone like Kirk Cousins, Jimmy Garoppolo or Alex Smith.

One question:  If the Jags cut Bortles now do they still have to pay him the $18,000,000?

If not, then who ever decided or made the decision to pick up the option on his contract is simply not a very smart person.

P.S.   Doing some research I see it is only guaranteed if he gets injured.  Probably should cut him.
