For the sake of not plagiarizing; After the Cleveland win, someone on PFT summed up this whole 'Jags losing to get the first pick it the draft' situation very well.

jerranamo says:

"forget the 1st overall pick - PLAY TO WIN!

It is better for the Jags to build excitement and confidence for the franchise.
Besides, all draft picks are gambles- nothing is guaranteed in the draft."

The great thing about it is that the Jags are really in a 'no lose' situation right now. If we win, it's great for us to have a winning atmosphere with the fans, city etc. If we lose, we're a young team rebuilding and of course, that thing about us being one step closer to a better draft pick.

Well it does make perfect sense.

The teams that win year-in / year-out don't draft at the top, so why would it matter?

As long as you find quality players, it doesn't matter if you pick 1st or 32nd.  Personally, I'd like the last pick on day one for many years running.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Not to mention even with us winning games, we still have a good draft position. So its a win-win all the way around, literally LOL

Okay I have a ticket question. Ive asked this before in the past. I was told that the Steelers are the only team who actually report no shows. Where is this " we have around 10,000 no shows every game" coming from? Is that fact or speculation? It would be odd that the team would release that information, but dont talk about blackouts. Thats saying every home game this year has had a crowd of 50,000, and that seems to be stretch. If there were only 50,000 at the home games the stadium would look almost completely empty. Now the crowd this year is smaller than the past three years (which is not a shock given the team performance), but out of the close to 60,000 tickets sold, I see a crowd of more than 50,000 people. Thoughts?

^ The 10,000 no shows has been an eye test speculation comment.  Not every game.  The San Diego and Arizona games, I would say no more than 50,000 were there, just by a historical visual comparison.  The Indianapolis and KC games definitely had a bigger crowd than that.

Okay i thought I was losing it LOL Im usually pretty good at gauging the crowd, since Im actually at the games. I think the attendance for Thursdays game will be awesome. Im freakin estatic that they have been winning.

I'll be driving down from Virginia for it, which will make the attendance especially awesome.

It's encouraging to see the city making a real event of it, like with the last home game of '09, and the optimism in Oehser's inbox.  I think it'll be a good crowd too.

We have to have something to cheer for at home first..Which I hope they correct on Thursday. The first half of the Arizona game was awesome and was really exciting. Would love to have that the entire game and get a win, especially against "bulllshit" on parade I MEAN the texans  ;D

Why not be positive about the game? Why not cheer on the team or stay home? We are seeing HUGE improvement on both sides of the ball, and we're winning games we lost last year.

Last year we made a helluva lot of noise and beat Baltimore at home. It was a great game!

Whose being negative? I was just making a comment, followed up by what I hope to see from them. It is what is is. They have sucked ass at home and played well on the road. Thats not being negative, its the damn truth. And thats an odd statement coming from one of the most negative people on here? Like I said, hopefully they continue to play well and give us something to cheer for. And that was not last year we beat Baltimore at home, it was 2011 BTW
