Will a mod please remove Mtrain's rants? They violate the forum rules and I'm sure the only purpose they'll serve is embarrassing him when he calms down.

I second this motion

No way.  I don't think that I have any rights regarding this, but since I did start this thread, I'd like that jackass to stick around and keep posting.  For a couple of reasons.....

1.)  Typically his semi-incoherent rants somewhat amuse me.  Besides, they're typically factually incorrect, are based in pure, unadulterated incorrect opinion and serve as the easy, low hanging fruit for me to counter without actually having to work for it.

2.)  Today.  He is justified in his incoherent, rambling, misguided rant, because from our first offensive drive to our last offensive drive, our team sucked absolute balls. Our defense showed some flashes, but other than those fleeting moments, we couldn't play our way out of a paper bag in any of the three phases of the game.

So let MTrain have his day.  Hell, I stayed from the kickoff to the game ending booing that our team deserved.  That was a complete clusterfuck of a game.  They deserve to get trashed.  They didn't show us anything to be hopeful for.

But.....

I was there for the preseason.  I've been there for the last 8 seasons.   Today wasn't a good day.  Period.  That doesn't mean that the other 15 days won't be.  I'm not going to apologize or make excuses for anyone.  No ONE person could have saved us today, this was a complete TEAM failure from top to bottom.  It was horrendous to watch, and I (unlike what was insinuated) was there, and will be there for the next game on the 29th.  And you know what?  They might suck then too, and, justifiably, we can boo them and berate them and call them garbage, but it still won't fix any of it.

Part of being a FAN is that you're also allowed to berate the team you root for when they don't do shit.  The mental anguish fades away.  Tomorrow still might sting a bit, but come Saturday evening, there will always be that hope that maybe tomorrow....  maybe tomorrow they'll play like I know they can.  And I'll be there to cheer them on.

Because when this is happening....

there's always hope.

BTW, Mtrain, when you sober up and read this tomorrow...

Go Fuck Yourself.

Thanks, and have a good night.  ;D

As a sports fan and moderator... I am going to agree with NRW.  It is simply the ravings of a extremely emotional (probably intoxicated) and disappointed fan.  Another mod may disagree and I would not argue with them...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Today I think I've suffered my first doubts of Gabbert's ability. I've been a solid supporter of him since coming to Jax, but today was not the same guy that played in public practice or even beginning preseason. Idk what got in his head, but he appeared more worried about getting hit/sacked then throwing the ball down the field.

It wasn't just you.

Another thing about the Jags D; I thought that Steve Young came outta retirement and put on a Chiefs uni, with all of those successful scrambles for first downs. You could've driven a Peterbilt through those holes that Jamal Charles ran in. Overall though, the D was the last of our problems in that game yesterday.

Believe me, I'm definitely not sugarcoating anything with Gabbert's awful gameplay, the atrocious blocking, and the WRs getting shutdown, but it wouldn't be fair to mention that some of our best receivers didn't play in that game (J Blackmon, M Lewis). Our TE Allen Reisner definitely took some steps backwards with his drops when games now matter.

^^^If so, I'm hoping that it will be Teddy Bridgewater outta Louisville.

Not sold on Boyd yet.  I am hoping 2-3 guys emerge during the college football season at QB.

Kind of a homer pick on my part, since it's where I went to school.

And ss badly as the Jags let me down yesterday, I at least had some satisfaction of the ACC kicking some SEC ass on Saturday.

Do I think he'll fit here?  I'm not really sure.  Clemson plays a super up-tempo, read-option system.  He can chuck the rock and he can run, but if you try to put him a more typical offense, I'm not sure how well he'll do.

I'm not sold on either to be honest. Then again I still shake my head at taking Sunshine the year before Luck and RG3. Not to mention "Punters are people too!" before Russel Wilson.

I just wonder how either one will do playing under center.

I would take Bridgewater over Boyd at this point, Bridgewater seems more accurate from what I have personally watched.

Boyd seems to carry his team and out tough a lot of opponents, but that doesn't always translate to NFL success as a QB.

The Jags are terrible, and yet, you choose to defend them. IDIOTS!!!! You are westside, you and the rest of the retards! They suck!  Good luck with the number 1 pick. You might was well pick your nose with your pick!

Maybe a real coach returns to rescue the team, till then, Gabbert is a loser! If you follow him, you are a loser too!

Idiots!

NOTHING WILL HAPPEN ON OFFENSE UNTIL BLACKMON RETURNS. Shorts SUCKS (3 of 11 for 40 yards). NICE! He lead the team today. GET A FREAKING CLUE PEOPLE!

I honestly do believe that you do own an apology to everyone on this board and the Jaguar fans. Listen old man, we are all on the same side here, and we share the same frustration. Just chillax.

Week one overreactions? Booze-fueled message board rants? Shock of the century :)

Do not agree with the personal attack on DD, nor the language used, but hey, it's football, it's the internet, I think we'll all live until next Sunday.

I can certainly understand the man's frustration though.

I was at the game, as well as our two preseason games, and there was very little to grasp on to for hope.

Last season was easily the worst in franchise history. We lost all but one game at Everbank, and were outscored on our home field by 120 points on the season.

This year, we're already 0-3 at home, and have been outscored by 57 points at Everbank.

15 more games with the second-worst quarterback (statistically) of the last 20 years is a tough pill to swallow, and I can't say I blame anyone for not wanting to personally bankroll the third year of this experiment.

I think the argument comes down to those who think that we are lucky to have an NFL team and should support the Jaguars unconditionally, versus those who think that support needs to earned by the front office and players.

Best course of action, sadly, is probably to tank and go after Bridgewater or Boyd in the draft, but it's probably going to make for a pretty trying 2013 season.

Also, for the love of God:

EVEN IF HE'S RELEASED.

Keith-N-Jax

They wont need to tank to get Bridgewater or who ever. For this season you can look for to see how the rookies play and/or improve. That's the only thing to look for this year.

fsquid

they really are bad and sadly, their best home game will be played in London.
