Not in the same way you'd consider being forced to apply for welfare assistance an 'emergency.'

Welfare- The Govt. will pay you if you don't work.
Glorified Welfare-2005-1007
Our city is broke
501-c- So as to have the ability to stick your hand out.

In fairness, at least they're buying food instead of a recreational pier with public money, no? What's the difference?

Big difference. 2011-560 pending legislation. Will be on the agenda at city council in 4 days. Look it up Chris. Shipyards/Landmar.

Would you like to kayak Hogans Creek?

What is the philosophical difference between using public funds to improve the quality of life for one private citizen vs. another? At the heart of it, how is using public money to improve the quality of your life by building the public pier you want any different from using public funds to improve the quality of life of a welfare recipient? How, exactly, are those not two shades of the same color? They can't be different simply because one personally benefits you and the other doesn't.

Regarding kayaking, not sure if you noticed my avatar or not, but it's not really my speed. No fridge to chill the bourbon, no head, no a/c, hell you even have to paddle the damn thing yourself. It's downright barbaric when you think about it.

Being unable to feed one's family is not your concern, but using tax dollars for your recreational pier is an 'emergency'?

Still waiting for you to explain the logical contradiction...

Stephen, Chris is waiting for you to jump in the ring on this thread. Have either of you looked up 2011-560? This is Shipyards/Landmar

I'm serious that you two should show up and argue that 1/2 the money go to the City Rescue Mission. Make it Happen. I'll support you.

Shipyards-$36,500,000 taxpayer money gone. 16 acres of Public space. 150 slip marina. Not one slip for Public.

Landmar- 16 acres of Public space reduced to 8 with the riverwalk and bulkhead improvements. 150 slip marina. Not one slip for the Public. Also the ability to shutdown the Riverwalk 12 times a year for special events.

We are Parks, Recreation, Entertainment, and in 2005 added Conservation. A new Downtown Authority with total Govt. control over everything is just scary. Especially as it relates to our Waterways. Other counties are concerned.

The pier doesn't need public funds. Hogans Creek under the FDOT Duval St. overpass doesn't need public funds.
What is simply needed is the legislative permission to participate.

The legislative permission is escaping us with redistricting and councilman Redman Dist.4 my elected legislative representative is leading in the conspiracy to deny economic opportunity to not only his constituents but the state of Florida.  Hogans Creek in Dist 7 councilman Gaffney's district has also been a disappointment.

Time is running out.

Very shortly I believe that we will be able to say with pride
                      VISIT JACKSONVILLE!

It will pain me to have to say
                      DON'T VISIT JACKSONVILLE!

Stephen and Chris I hope this helps. Whens the next Pub Crawl? Are we skipping Sept. and waiting for Oct. Halloween Crawl?

Just emailed the city council. The Public Trust just totally destroyed in this community.

Public hearing in an hour at city council. Needs to go to Waterways. Does anybody care?

Noone

Went to city council last night and 2011-560 did not go to Waterways. Just had my butt  handed to me. $23,250,000 taxpayer dollars just left hanging on the table.  OVER TWENTY THREE MILLION DOLLARS. Thats a ton of dough.

Point of order question. Anyone.

During a Public hearing on the specific bill number if you write on the speaker card approve or disapprove should the floor leader read that into the record so that the other council members can know your position?

Also on the speaker card I asked the floor leader Yarborough if he would ask the council president Joost if he would send this legislation to Waterways that will be meeting in 7 hours now. This legislation was discussed at a Waterways FIND subcommittee meeting. Scott Wilson and subcommittee chair Gary Anderson said that they would request 2011-560 be sent to Waterways. The Public Trust just totally destroyed.

Did anyone watch the council meeting? My line of peripheral vision of the key council members that within a 3 minute presentation included Floor leader Yarborough, Joost, Bishop, Boyer, Redman. We are talking about $23,000,000, $TWENTY THREE MILLION DOLLARS. Anybody want a canoe or kayak launch for the consituents in their district? Pocket Park-Pocket Pier-Its right here. Anybody want or needs a dredging project. Fishweir Creek? ( not picking on you NM) For the next 4 years nobody should complain about any waterway dredging issue in your district.

Hey Springfield! Where the heck are you? Confederate park? Klutho park? Hogans Creek behind the Jacksonville Historical Society? Lake, Ock, This has been teed up for anyone.

Boyer when I had that brief eye contact you just had that feeling that the rookie council member wanted to just jump right in. You could feel the pressure in the room. I could. Bishop is on Waterways and sitting next to Joost and trying to also maintain some type of eye contact with my elected city council representative Don Redman Dist.4 who is the CHAIR of WATERWAYS didn't say one thing when his counsel led by Joost,Yarborough and Bishop whose offices are on the 4th floor of city hall were able to avert sending this piece of legislation to the Jacksonville Waterways Commission meeting. The Euphoric enthusiasm in Redmans face. I swear he was about to stand up and applaud his counsel representation. Not one word from Redman.

Not even a thank you for allowing him to continue to lead the conspiracy to deny Public Access and economic opportunity to our St. Johns River our American Heritage River a Federal Innitiative.

I'll give props to councilwomen Denise Lee when she chaired Rules and 2010-856 the transient vendor ban was the issue. She read the speaker card into the record.

I got home and there is an email from councilman Gaffney's office.

Does anyone realize that FIND projects are now being identified.

This is still pending legislation. Does anybody care?

Noone

In 3 1/2 hours this will be in front of our elected legislative representatives that are part of a committee that will listen and respond to citizen input that can then be acted on in a motion that could attach an amendment to a piece of legislation that will then go to the full city council for a vote.

This committee is Rules. Bill Bishop is the chair. On Rules Is city council member and Dist.7 representative Dr. Johnny Gaffney. Will anyone from SPAR, SS, SAMBA, SOS or anyone that just wants to ask for a piece of a $23,250,000 piece of a pie.

This is the biggest opportunity to not be ignored. Don't be afraid of this.

Bishop is on Waterways and my city councilman is Don Redman. I'll be advocating for the Promised 680' Downtown Public Pier that was part of SHIPYARDS/LANDMAR 2010-604 and will be seeking an amendment.
The PUBLIC TRUST has just been totally destroyed in this community.

Very soon we will be proudly telling the world

VISIT JACKSONVILLE
         or
DON"T VISIT JACKSONVILLE

2011-560 approved 6-0 in RULES. This is Shipyards III The Public Trust continues to be absolutely destroyed in this community. At the 9:30 agenda meeting I asked the chair Bill Bishop if an amendment can be attached to the legislation. The city councilman wasn't there (Gaffney) would be addressed at the 10 o'clock meeting. At the agenda meeting was Bill Hoff and Tony Bates.

At the 10 am meeting Gaffney was there. DIDN'T SAY ONE word during the discussion of 2011- 560 Crescimbeni with a great question. Mr. Germany with OGC in 2009 the appraisal was $20,000,000 today its $29,000,000. An almost %50 increase in value! WHY?

What are the hotels that are about to be auctioned off? Ready for this. Bill and I each filled out a speaker card. We were not recognized. Bishop rejected an opportunity for Public comment. This will be in Finance on Tues.

More and more I want to tell our regional partners
DON'T VISIT JACKSONVILLE
Leaving and going through Bay St. to the Hart bridge there appears to be a growing number of people out on the piers in a small spontaneous cluster..

That will make you want to say
VISIT JACKSONVILLE

comncense

Isn't the Hyatt about to get auctioned off? Not sure if that was what you were referring to.

Noone

I think your right. And there is another one out at the beach. This will be in Finance tomorrow. What will be the new appraisal amount? Who cares? Anyone want to kayak under the Hyatt parking lot? Hogans Creek? McCoys Creek? Better yet the Promised 680' Downtown Public Pier.

Anybody going to Finance?

Noone

Finance in two hours. ANYBODY GOING? SPRINGFIELD, you were hung out to dry yesterday. Gaffney did not say one word. Not ONE single word on behalf of the constituents of Dist.7. Not one single word.

But don't feel bad Don Redman did the same for the constituents in Dist.4  with the PROMISED 680' DOWNTOWN PUBLIC PIER and you can watch it on the broadcast of the Sept.13, 2011 Jacksonville city council meeting. And he backed it up the next day as the CHAIR of Waterways and continued in the conspiracy to deny Public Access and Economic opportunity to our St. Johns River our American Heritage River a federal Initiative.

Palms Fish Camp, Palms Fish Camp, Palms Fish Camp, Thats next. Who gets the promotion? Who gets fired?

Who wants to be a 501-c? I'm serious.

We'll travel, Promote the Waterways of Florida, CRAWL, TRAWL, and have a BALL in raising money for any other county besides DUVAL.

Shopping cart drawings up and down the east coast of the state of Florida. Regional Partner giveaways. And it all originates with taxpayer money in Duval county.

Today at Finance will the 2009 appraisal of $20,000,000 and the 2011 appraisal of $29,000,000 be adjusted?

Be concerned.

I was not recognized or allowed to speak or was my speaker card acknowledging I support or oppose this legislation shared with other committee members at the Rules 9/19/11 meeting in council chambers. Bill Hoff and Tony Bates personally witnessed this lapse or standard operating procedure of how legislation moves through our elected legislative representatives.

What is even worse is That councilman Gaffney who's district has been the primary effected region didn't say one word. Not one single word. He just sat there as this fraud to the taxpayers was slammed through.

Thank God for John Crescimbeni who just made common sense with his questions.

Gaffney left his entire district out to dry.

The Finance agenda meeting was a joke too. This was the next daHy. Tony Bates and Connie Bennem were there.

Still requires a council vote.

We are getting burned for millions and nobody cares.

Noone

Isn't it great how land values increase or decrease on what legislation is pending?

Noone

Will any city council district representative attach an amendment to this legislation for a simple $100,000 that then could be used for a future FIND matching grant for the constituents in their district?
