Jacksonville will no longer have Garrison Keillor to listen to on sat....just another casualty to the republican take over of public radio...remember..anything public is on the block...but tax breaks for the wealthy and ending of corporate tax completely is A OK for them....say thank you everyone!

Well, I think 89.9 and WJCT should focus more on high quality, locally produced content(which is far cheaper than paying for syndicated programming).

But, as someone that does listen to Prairie Home on Saturday afternoons(if I'm in the car)... it's not like you'll be hard pressed to miss it much.  You can stream it live online and/or download the podcast... for free(which is what I do most of the time anyway).  Or if you have satellite radio, you can easily find the show live elsewhere.

So the defunding of public services has nothing to do with this?

Garden guy

Steven your hate of public radio tells me you got your feelings hurt by someone there....did they turn you down on your own public television show at channel 7?...which is actually a good idea i may say...

+1 Stephen.

I really miss Landon's show, which was really popular, but won't miss Garrulous Keeler and his moo. He has decided to retire BTW.  His show wasn't dropped by our local station.

What sucks is that, once I finally began listening to the Metro on WJCT, Landon Walker's program was cancelled.  I sort of felt like a jinx.  I like ElectroLounge and First Coast Connect, but hope for more local flavor on our community radio station...  I do not believe that this is entirely the fault of the poobahs who run 89.9.  If we had a UNF-run radio station instead of Jones College, we would have had a greater variety of local voices...

Stay tuned...
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

No more Prairie Home Companion? Damn, I almost choked on my Lutheran Coffee when I heard that.

Up until 1985 Jones operated a first class jazz station in addition to their elevator music station. They ran ads that offered the jazz collection FREE to anyone who would take up the torch and keep it running. I don't know the results but it's gone today so perhaps nobody took them up on the deal.

Just don't ask him anything about his marriages!  Understand that that really sets him off.

I really enjoy A Prarie Home Companion. I realize DW disagrees with me on this, but there is something very heartwarming about the show. I'll miss it.

They would rather kiss the asses of a few wealthy donors than to have the widespread support of the community that they were created to serve.

......such as Lewis,Longman and Walker; Orlando Utilities-participant in crafting the latest "Water Wars" episode. WJCT can barely acknowledge the connections.

Donations granted from the general public lagged in response to the Corporate outreach but that too faded to sunset.
In response to the Scott defunding initiative my wife and I stepped up to the plate with donation, but we wonder.....

And all with their palms stretched beseachingly outwards and no strain on their backs.
