10 Most Walkable Cities

The really great thread through each of these cities is mass-transit options and density density density.  Even Minneopolis made the cut with their harsh winters (for those that complain about walking in our heat) because they offer mass transit options.  More spread out cities like Miami and DC made it too because they have been incorporating transportation hubs in their city planning and increasing density around those hubs.

This aritcle is a good illustration that Jacksonville can be a more walkable city if certain policies here change.  Preserving the density in the urban core and building density around transportation hubs could work well here too.  Offering more mass transit options too of course.  Minneapolis even has a bike sharing program, illustrating mass transit design can be more progessive than rail and buses.

I think that as the mobility plan projects start to happen, Jacksonville could move up on the list of most walkable cities. I don't think we will ever be on the top 10 simply because of our landmass, but being in the top 25 is possible (I think).

Btw, those pics of NYC and SF are AMAZING.
