I must admit that I don't know much about politics on a state level, so I went to this town meeting to listen to what these candidates had to say.

Although I was only there for part of the time, I thought I'd share what I have heard and maybe we could have a significant discussion before voting on September 20th.

Ramon Day "It's a New Day".  Not a fan of charter schools.  Very pro public ed.  Owns a house on 12th Street which he "saved" (maybe in Springfield?) and hopes to move in when completed.  Grew up in Arlington.

Leandrew Mills  "Need a change".  Private schools and charter schools are not the enemy.  Make no cuts to education.

Lacks the polish of the other political candidates. New to the game.  Family asked him why not start out at city hall or the school board?  Obviously needs a bit of political experience on a lower level.

I assume this is Tony Hill's seat...if so, the best candidate is Audrey Gibson

Terry Fields. "We are all suffering"
Grew up on the eastside, Florida Avenue.  As a child, his councilman wouldn't even visit his neighborhood without a police escort.  This ugly fact propelled him into local politics.  High charisma here, confident.  Was city council member, and served two terms Florida House of Rep.  Looking to move up.

"Time to re-evaluate magnet schools -- we are pulling out the brightest and the best in public education and leaving the other schools empty."

Audrey Gibson. Member of legislature for eight years.  Looking to move up.

Went to private schools as a child and watched her parents suffer to put her there.  Doesn't want children without means to have a lesser education.  Wants to improve public ed for all children.

Very polished.  Had the crowd smiling.  Easy and charming.

Anyone know anything about write-in candidate Andrea Felicia Austin?
