Republican House members Dan Webster and Sandy Adams have taken serious flak from their constituents at Town Hall events recently.

That’s something John Mica doesn’t have to worry about … because he’s not holding any.

Not during this work period anyway. His office just confirmed as much.

Mica spokesman Brian Waldrip noted that his boss held community events earlier this year â€" and will schedule “Telephone Town Halls” soon, since the congressman “understands that several constituents have concerns with the direction of the country…”

The office is encouraging those interested in registering for the tele-town halls to visit www.mica.house.gov.

You can read the full note statement from Waldrip below:

“Congressman Mica is not holding any town hall meetings during this district work period. However, he has hosted or participated in several public forums throughout the district since February. The Congressman has been from one end of the district to the other â€" including stops in Maitland, DeLand, St. Augustine, Putnam County, Flagler County and Volusia County. He has also participated in radio call-in shows.

Mr. Mica understands that several constituents have concerns with the direction of the country, and to engage as many constituents as possible, will soon be hosting a series of telephone town halls. Constituents can sign up to participate in the upcoming telephone town halls on the website (www.mica.house.gov).”

This story has been updated.

Six in ten House members are not holding any town hall meetings during this summer’s five-week congressional recess, according to the nonpartisan activist organization No Labels.

The group surveyed 430 House offices and found that only 174 members plan to hold town halls with their constituents this summer, according to an entry posted on the No Labels Web site Monday afternoon.

I heard on the radio yesterday that most of the members of congress are being cowards about town halls this year.
