Hey Y'all, I just hit the jackpot... I found 20+ "new" photos of our streetcars. These are builders posed photos and even include such details as seat assemblys, motormans seat, end or side details etc... There are also a scattering of blueprints available. They cover the Jacksonville Electric Company, Jacksonville Traction Company and South Jacksonville Municipal Railways. If any of you are collectors, historians or otherwise would like your own copy send me a PM and I will put you in touch with the collection.

Ock, I would love to be able to add something like this to the SPAR website. Is there any Springfield specific stuff on there?

Downtown Parks, yes, we now have access to the first blueprints and "BUILDERS PHOTOS" of the Jacksonville Traction Company since 1936. Looks like the landfill, JTA and Jake missed a few! LOL! Anyway, there is a charge for the prints or a CD, and an up-charge for prints on paper, or blueprints. But it would be well worth it. They span the time from 1911-about 1930.

I don't imagine any of these are posed in Jacksonville, but more likely at St. Louis Car Company, where the builders sent a photographer inside out to catch every detail of the cars as they rolled out. Either way, these cars certainly rolled through Springfield, and this little collection will nearly double the amount of equipment photos available for Jacksonville.

I am also searching for Cincinnati Car Comapny, for Jewitt Car Company, Brill and perhaps stills from the old Jacksonville Movie productions. I'm hoping to boost our Trolley archive to well over 100 photos and drawings.
My count is currently about 25, so this find effectively doubles the size of our collection.

Okay y'all, I have heard back from the source, where I found a pile of unknown and previously unpublished Jacksonville Traction (streetcar) photos. These are builders posed photos, most likely taken at their factory in Missouri. The find is larger then I first thought, and includes 42 "NEW" old photos. I suspect one or two might even be the famous funeral cars. It is quite a collection. They are making me a CD with all of the photos, the cost is $98 and will include permission to publish. This can be extended to you too IF you contact me soon. We can either co purchase the CD or we can arrange for you to have your own.

There are also a whole batch of blueprints, showing every detail of the construction of our streetcars, of many different classes. I don't have a price on these yet, but they will send it to me as the CD is done. Expect the CD to take until Jan. or so before all of the scans are complete. I believe they are working from Glass Plates, which means the quality should be incredible. If you have a contact within the Railroad or local preservation or historical societys, please give them a call and tell them to contact me in this forum or via a PM. These were our "fathers" streetcars, and we should see them!
