QuoteThe former Modis building will be known as the Wells Fargo Center, a spokeswoman for the bank said.
Kathy Harrison, spokewoman for Wachovia , a Wells Fargo Co. , confirmed that the bank’s 375 employees currently at the Enterprise Center, better known as the Wachovia building at 225 Water St., are moving to 1 Independent Drive beginning in November. The move should be completed by the end of the year.

Harrison said the new signage for the Wells Fargo Center should be completed by the end of the summer.
Wells Fargo will occupy six and a half stories, or 120,000 square feet, at 1 Independent Drive.
Wachovia occupies 155,000 square feet in the Enterprise Center. The bank and its earlier incarnations have occupied that space for 25 years.

Harrison said the move was a business decision and will save money by consolidating space and through a good lease term. Harrison declined to provide details on the lease.

I didn't know there were any delis in Florida, I thought it was to Northeast for people here to to give them a chance. I hope it's an NYC style deli, right down to it being run by  Jewish people. I'm not being sarcastic or anything, I just really want to see more places like the ones I grew up with, here in Jax.

if that's what you want, try Let's Nosh on San Jose Blvd

I believe the new Wells Fargo branch will replace the current SunTrust branch in the Modis building. SunTrust will then open a new branch in the actual SunTrust building across the street.

Midtown Deli is amazing.  It will be sad to see them leave the southside (first time i've ever said that), but I wish them great success downtown.  I'll have to get over there sometime this week.

Looks like they're being forced to move out, searching for a new space:

"Thank you for taking the time to look at this. We are Midtown Deli & Cafe. We have been in business for just over 5 years. 3 and a half years at our current location in downtown Jacksonville at 100 N Laura st. Many of you have enjoyed our food over this time and we have enjoyed having you as customers but that is all about to change. We recieved notice that our lease will not be renewed and we have 30 days to leave. We had been trying to renew our lease but it appears the owners want to go in a different direction and gave us very short notice. We are scrambling to find a new location downtown because after talking to many of you we feel the love and know this is where we need to be. It won't be cheap to make a move this fast so we are asking for some help. We started behind the 8 ball when we moved downtown. The construction on our space took 5 months longer than expected. We had given notice on our other location and had to move out. We spent 5 months with no income trying to get open and it sapped all of our savings. We almost didn't even get the chance to open it hurt us so bad. By the grace of god we managed to get open and enjoyed success. 2 years ago we had a cold winter and we found out our space had no heat. We asked for it to be fixed but that didn't happen. It hurt us financially. We don't blame any customer that didn't want to sit in a restaurant that was 45 degrees and eat. We managed to recover from that. Again this past year after asking many times for the heat to be fixed it was not. This past year hurt even more with lost sales. Again we don't blame anyone who didn't want to eat in such cold weather. We didn't even want to go to work in such conditions. If we had to go through another winter with no heat this year it would have officially put us out of business.
 My fiance Joy and I (DJ) moved here from Hawaii with a dream to own our own restaraunt and we feel very lucky to have been able to do this and be able to serve such great customers. Many of you we even call friends. We would greatly appreciate any donation you would be able to give to help us move to a new spot so we can continue to serve you some great and fresh food. Thank you for your time and your help.
~~~UPDATE~~~~~
We have added rewards to our campaign. This way we feel better about accepting donations and you guys have incentive to come and see us. You can use the gift certificates at our current space  up till Sept 4th or you can choose to get one for our new space once we open.
The $5 free hug award must be even between Joy and I. Everyone can't just want to hug her:)"
That stinks.
When the dust settles, it seems like things will work out for DT. A new tenant will replace Midtown at the Forsyth Street location and Midtown will have new digs within a two block radius of their current location.
