Dude, I hate to be the rain on your parade, but please (please, please, please) stop using BR for a source of any 'real' news, updates or information.  It's nothing but a blog site (no offense to yours truly MJ), but all articles are completely slanted, either for or against, and there are absolutely no bipartisan arguments.

If you want real Jaguar opinion, ask me - I'm full of it.  ;D

My take on the article - is that the writer is drumming up a rivalry that does exist, but only because the Titans are expected to start against us with a rookie QB and a rookie coach.  This year isn't the JDR / Jeff Fisher matchup.  This isn't the young Heisman winning (once RB gives it to him) QB v/s the Leader of Marshall that finished on a broken ankle.  This isn't the crafty, old veteran (Kerry Collins) finding a way to win in hostile territory.   This is a new chapter on a manufactured rivalry, that will pit a (hopefully) rookie QB vs a grizzled veteran.

Take note.  If we lose this game, which is possible, it will set the tone for the entire season.  You will hear chants of Gabbart every time that Garrard throws an incompletion.  This town will force our own rookie into the starting lineup before he is ready.  This game, our first game, will set the tone for the entire season.  And don't forget, we will face another rookie QB (hopefully, or maybe not) in Carolina with Cameron Newton in week 3.  (or Jimmy Clausen, who knows at this point. )

The fact of the matter is that in the first 4 weeks, possibly we play 2 veteran, playoff winning QBs, Sanchez and Brees;  2 rookie QBs, Newton and Locker.  What happens in weeks 1 and 3 will factor a lot in the way that the contributors of BR portray us - as well as the national 'real' media.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I just personally like the article. More so because of the pieces about our franchise. Some of things read I have also told people when they asked, "What happened after 1999?" I don't care for the rivalry piece. The headline is misleading. All and all it was a good read. (for me). I enjoy reading others perspective of our team, wheather is opinion's or facts.

I am very excited about Jaguar football this year. I have always been first and foremost a 49ers fan but the more people complain and whine about the Jags the more I find myself rooting them on. Great rivalries are what make football. It has taken us a while to develop good rivalries due to the divisional restructuring in 2002 but we have some good ones going. I don’t get to go to every single game but I always try to go see our boys play the Colts or Titans. Also here in recent years the Texans game has become a great game. With games like that no matter if we have any business whatsoever playing the teams we still play tough. Something else I was very happy to hear is that Minnesota, San Diego, and of course Oakland are all starting the talks about going to L.A. We are truly lucky to have an NFL team. Every year no matter how poor the economy, people will travel to see football.

I wouldn't call the rivalry between Jacksonville and Tennessee a manufactured one. Two big parts of rivalries are history and hate. They are the only team that has been in the same division with us our whole existence. Our first regular season home game was a loss to them, and our first win was on the road in Houston, so there's definitely the history, and I still kind of hate them over that 99 season.

Week 1:  Jags vs. Tits....   Let's just hope the Jags don't leave that game looking like a bunch of Boobs!  :)

I don't know a Jags fan that would say that they respect the Titans, in fact, most would say that they hate them more than the damn Colts.  We have a very true rivalry and the AFC South has proven most years to be one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.

I feel like we may have a good squad this season and should beat last years record with a solid run at the playoffs.

We also have several advantages. The Titans are in a complete mess. The teaxans.....well are still the Texans. And the Colts started their downward spiral last year and honestly I dont see it getting any better for them. I see us battling it out with the Colts this year for the division. Another thing is, the ravens, the jets, and even the colts have to make  cuts because they are over the cap. And we are a living example of how that can spell doom for your team. Look what it did to us.. 1999 we were on our way to the super bowl, after salary cap issues, we fell to 5-11 the next year.

People dogged WW for not letting go of Del Rio and Garrad, but looking back he did us a favor. While other teams are in disarray, we arent. WW is the owner and this shows he knew what he was doing..
