John Mica, is the one who introduced the bill to undermine the Clean Water Act of 1972. Ironically, it is called the "Clean Water Cooperative Federalism Act of 2011". I can't believe my community and the district I live in keeps voting this guy in! It is time to vote him out in 2012! His bill, which passed the house, wants to put the power of regulation in the hands of the states which have no money to regulate. It's a ploy to ease restrictions on polluting businesses.

What: Florida statewide and national groups will hold a press conference outside Congressman John Mica’s office to criticize his “Dirty Water” bill, H.R. 2018 which passed the U.S. House of Representatives on July 13.

HR 2018 - if passed by the Senate and signed by President Obama - would severely restrict the Environmental Protection Agency from enforcing key parts of the Clean Water Act and would prevent the Environmental Protection Agency, without state concurrence, from taking action to revise outdated state water quality standards, making it easier for companies to dump their waste and garbage into lakes and rivers. The bill targets EPA’s recent intervention to regulate nitrogen and phosphorus levels in Florida’s waters.
