Mayor Alvin Brown to unveil budget Friday morning

Get ready kids, this won't be pretty.

Mayor Alvin Brown will present his 2011-12 budget to the Jacksonville City Council Friday morning at 10 a.m., he office announced this morning.

Brown is required by law to present the budget to the council no later than July 15. The fiscal year begins on Oct. 1.

"During the campaign, I promised to put Jacksonville’s fiscal house in order," he wrote in an email. "On Friday a streamlined budget will be presented to City Council that closes a $60 million budget shortfall without raising taxes or fees."

Brown will present the budget in the council chambers.
