Hogans Creek Health Warning: No Fishing

Just got word that the city and state will be soon issuing a health warning for Hogans Creek.  Tissue samples taken from fish in the creek contained high levels of PCPs, heavy metals and dioxin.

It is safe to be near the creek beds and even to paddle the creek... but please do not eat any fish caught from the creek(believe me, people do this).  If you want to fish(plenty of reds in that area of the river)... use the main stem of the river instead.

Anyone interested in a light cleanup next weekend, please let me know.   :)

It has been a known environmental problem for years. There are already signs posted.

The good news is past and current attention to this waterway.COJ Tributary program,Dana Morton.
RiverKeeper Neil net samples fairly recently revealed critters not tolerant of really really bad.

Thank you Field.

This is what 'cherished' and 'stewardship' looks like.

At some point,'cleanup' should be City activity.
Public Works Storm Water Fee.  $$$$$$$$$

it is amazing these beat up waterway bodies, systems harbor the life they do.

Even the Everglades have come under new warning, this time Mercury.
