In my opinion, this is a dream team.  A couple of notes of interest...

Chris Hand has worked in many levels of politics, including closely with US Senator Bob Graham.

Senator Hill will resign his office at some point.  It's said that Mia Jones will remain in the state legislature.

So nice to see Abel in the mix - if I wanted a Communications Director, he'd be my first choice too.

It's really a dream team.  And so much for the contention that forces "outside Jacksonville" would have the reigns of power.  This is a home-town crowd to help support the Mayor in taking Jacksonville to the next level.  Awesome.

Whoa! He is going to kick some asses, even better than Jay Carney, the current White House Secretary because Florida is in Abel's backyard :)

That's great news for the City and bad news for my morning routine! How can I enjoy my coffee without Florida Morning to start the day?

Steve

Solid selections.  I am concerned a little about Kevin Hyde not drawing a salary. Sam Mousa was the CAO at one point - the position kind of runs government day to day.  The guy doesn't draw a salary?

My guess--it is a holding position--maybe General Counsel?

Jimmy

Kevin Hyde has considerable personal wealth.  He wouldn't lack if he took no salary from the city.

I don't believe he'd be in a holding pattern for GC because Cindy L. is in that job until October.  Kevin wouldn't take on the CAO role until after the budget gets through Council, which happens at the very (VERY) end of September.

I continue to believe the position of General Counsel is Audrey Moran's, if she wants it.

The Abel Harding move is a smart one for Brown. This should whip the local tea party nut jobs into a frenzy claiming T-U bias in endorsing Brown.

^Well, let's hope it doesn't just become a rallying point for those opposing him. If he wants to be successful, Brown is going to have to do a lot of reaching across the aisle.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Jimmy

Appointing a Republican City Council members, Kevin Hyde, to the CAO spot will go a long way to healing any rifts with the legitimate GOP.  The Jacksonville CAO is essentially the City Manager and runs the day-to-day operations of the City.  That's a high profile position, handed to the political "opposition."

The tea party types won't be happy, ever, with anything the government does.  Whether its lead by a Democrat or Republican.

I have heard Hyde's no salary is only until Stewart leaves.

The Mayor's team has 2 weeks to figure out how to pull $61 million out of thin air. It will be painful. I see a number of names that live in the urban core. That is good.
