Who really pays attention to ads on websites?  Here on Metrojax we see ads fairly often and yet I generally pay them zero attention.  One day... this one caught my eye...

QuoteWorld of Tanks is a freemium 3D team-based massively multiplayer online game featuring historically accurate fighting vehicles from the 1930s to the 1950s. World of Tanks is a PvP-focused project that promises action and strategy based gameplay. In the release version, World of Tanks includes more than 90 armored vehicles from America, Germany and the Soviet Union. France has also been confirmed to be in development[3]. The vehicles have been carefully detailed with historical accuracy.[4][5] All in all there will be around 500 vehicles available in the game. At the moment, World of Tanks features light, medium and heavy tanks, tank destroyers and self-propelled artillery and some well-known prototypes and low-volume vehicles. The game blends action, strategy and simulation genres.[6]

The closed beta test for European and American players started on July 8, 2010. Fighting vehicles from USSR, Germany and USA are available for play. World of Tanks was released on April 12,2011 on the territories of Europe and North America.[7] The game is also commercially operated in CIS.

World of Tanks is the first game of the British company Wargaming.net to be released under "Play 4 Free" model, which will see the game released for free with revenue generated from micropayments in the form of Gold.[8]

World of Tanks has set up a World Guinness Recordâ,,¢ in the category of Most Players Online Simultaneously on One MMO Server. The record was registered on January 23rd, 2011 when the number of players on the game’s Russian server totaled 91,311.[9]

I am NOT a game player.  I have played a few over the years... but have never owned any of the gaming systems currently out there.

Well now I know why... this shit is addicting.  It has taken me awhile to pick it up and am undoubtedly still a noob... but what fun.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I loveeeeee this game so much. I have been playing alot lately. I got the Tier II, T2-Medium Tank right now. It is really challenging to make money and invest experience into research to get better tanks.

My game name there is wsansewjs.

Gettin ready to get my tier 5 Pz IV.  Last night I "elited" my Pz III.  Tier 4 has been a bitch.  You are always playing against tier 7-8-9 tanks and are usually one of the weakest tanks out there.  At least in tiers 1-3 you are usually playing against nearly equal capabilities...

Watch out for the King Tiger, it will fall through the bridges!

No seriously, I'm not a gamer, don't play, don't have 'a farm', don't belong to the 'Mafia', and don't watch TV...But this does look interesting. Anyone know how historically accurate it is? Are Sherman's piercing the front or sides of the Tigers? (In real life - not highly likely).

In my admittedly limited experience it is pretty accurate.  The research that went into these tanks is pretty amazing.  I am quite sure they have made consessions to historical accuracy for the purpose of gaming but I am pretty impressed.  Then again... I am NOT a gamer so I do not have much experience.  What IS pretty cool is the battles consist of a WIDE mix of tanks from differing countries and capabilities.  Your "team" in each battle will consist of German, Russian, and American tanks.  Each battle is different, and the maps you play on are quite varied with regards to terrain and tactics.

A Mr. Cox, a self expressed authority on any Federal or State project and an avowed enemy of the railroad passenger industry, pointed some of the major defects in Florida High Speed Rail.  In the process did he inadvertently guarantee passenger rail expansion?

Quote
Fundamentally, Mr. Cox argues that the state should enter into an agreement with a private builder and operator that would ensure that Florida taxpayers are not stuck with construction cost overruns or operations losses. If high-speed rail projects around the world have been operationally profitable, so should the Tampa-Orlando line, and private corporations should be able to accept the risk in buying train cars and beginning services, especially since the project’s construction costs are entirely covered by the federal and state governments.
SOURCE: http://www.thetransportpolitic.com/2011/01/07/a-fiscally-conservative-approach-is-the-right-one-for-florida-high-speed-rail/

That last point speaks volumes about the "real" projections of Florida HSR. If it would make a profit like the State had promised, then why are there not dozens of companies financing and building it? The fact is when the State government left the project high and dry, the "would-be" conquerors of High Speed in the USA jumped off the ship like the proverbial drowning rats. Absolute FACT: This project would fail to meet ridership or income projections in what would have been known as the biggest boondoggle in state government history. Mention this to any supporter of the project and they'll come back with, "All those operators were willing to take that risk because they knew that would make them the premiere HSR choice in all future projects." BINGO! If this project failed miserably; what other projects? This would have shut up and shut down all proponents of advanced passenger rail in America, the industry would suffer sticker shock forever, something we certainly don't need.

The favor? Because of Mr. Cox, Rick Scott and other like them in Florida, sensible and much needed rapid rail expansion is assured.

Oops Uncle Ockie, did you post it in the wrong thread?
