hope it works out.  Some of those "dirt rock" kids who hang out at Lomax can be a bit much though.  Some guys gotta learn to shower, not puke on cars, and that it's not cool to be missing 7 teeth by 22!

so you're not a hockey fan...

The most awesome quote I've read in quite some time...

All of us in 5 Points hope they will relocate to Burro Bar downtown.  Sometime on the weekend mornings Lomax St. should be steam cleaned for public health reasons.
When all else fails hug the dog.

So, did anyone go tonight?? How was it...

BridgeTroll

It was very awesome to see the corner of Adams and Ocean back as fun spot to gather.  Huge crowd... Ian was beaming.  Great job!  Viva la Burro bar! 8)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

The corner was packed when I drove by around 10pm.

It looks interesting.  Depending on what beers they serve, I may add that to my list of hangouts.

Correction on the "20 beers on tap!"... Make it 28!

For those that use facebook, make sure to check out their page "Burro Bar". Jack updates it every day, posting shows, progress, beer stock etc.

See everyone tomorrow!  ;D

Unless they have more taps hidden somewhere I only counted 20 beer on tap -- most of which were craft or import -- not a Bud tap in sight. But, they did have a number of good bottles, too...

"All of us in 5 Points"???? I love Metro Jax but there are a lot of people on here who are quick to judge. You do realize that without those 'hipsters' and 'indie' kids or whatever you have decided you want to label them most of the bars in 5 Points wouldn't have a soul in them. I'm close friends with several of the people you are referring to so don't be so quick to judge just because of their appearance. Most of the described have full time jobs and/or attend FSCJ and/or UNF and are contributors to the urban core in general. They are the ones bringing new music, new art, new bars, new events and new ideas to the core. Not saying they are the only ones contributing but they have far more to offer than "puke on cars"?! I'm not trying to start a rant, rave or argument but I'm not sure comments like the above are really even necessary.

For those who aren't into bashing... Last night at Burro Bar was awesome! A huge crowd and the place looks much better than it's prior days. They still have some small touch ups here and there, as well as some more art to display.

Gonzo: As far as the "28 taps", that's what I was told last week however I did notice there were only 20 last night. As I stated, they still have some final touches to take care of, so maybe that's in the works.

Don't get us wrong.  No one is a bigger fan of 5 Points and the vibe here than we are.  Like anywhere where the crowd or the owners don't run them off, there is a small number of jerks who don't abide by the limits that most people do and tend to spoil things for the rest.

Didn't I even read some complaints about jerks in the Kickback's crowd here recently?

Places like Underbelly's and Birdies and O'Brother's and even Five Points Liquors for us older folks and The Wall Street for the smokers are at the heart of what this neighborhood is about.  We call it the " 5 Points night shift."   ;)

You Did.  Chris and some other jerks were getting all upitty that my friends and I wear polo shirts and hats on King Street.  It's not my fault we don't have any faded indie band shirts or tank tops in our closet.

-I am of course joking.... About Chris at least.  He and I are friends.

If the owners of Kickbacks were mad at me, they would have good reason to be.  I am a loyal patron, but their beers have gotten me a little riled up on more than one occasion.  Luckily, the staff there couldn't be nicer and they welcome me back with open arms.  I consider Scott McAllister a good friend as well.  All this is to say that yes, some people did criticize me and 'my kind' for taking over 'their' spot.  We are well liked by the business owners and generally do no harm, but we differ from the usual crowd.  There's room for all of us in 5 Points and King Street as long as we all behave.  When people start misbehaving, thats when they lose their privileges.

-Case in point: A guy was being drunk and obnoxious in the Rogue and Loft so Albus and Ronald (two of the bar's most loyal, friendly, hilarious, and enormous fans) literally threw the guy out of the bar and into a cop car.  Hilarious.

You should show up in a red cap and a Speedo and see how they like that.

You don't hang faded band shirts and tank tops in the closet, silly. You just leave them on the ground. More legit.

Well stated and again the city is not the suburbs.  When I go to NY I don't want women on rollerskates pushing their dogs in strollers...I want craziness.  A little of everything.  A good city vibe is about diversity of populations.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure this subject is in the "Nightlife" section and it's about Burro Bar?!

Nature of the beast. We wrapped up talking about Burro in like 5 posts. If this thread makes it past 3 pages, it will be about Hogan/Brown, mass transit, or the evil/saintlyness of Obama
