Maybe it is just me. Probably is, but I am running into brown supporters in some of the most unlikely places and some of the most unlikely of people. Conservative people in conservative places all supporting Alvin brown. People who did not and will not vote for president obama, but voting for alvin brown for mayor of jacksonville. They like him. He is smart, yet humble. They like his background rooted in economic development and job creation. They are wanting a new direction, a vision, an openness , earnestness, and all the things Alvin brings to the table by just being who he is. People that have a hogan sign in their front yard to satisfy a friend, but voting for Alvin brown.  So just in the unllikley case someone else has experiences to share like mine, I'm leading off. Of course, maybe it's just me. Matt Carlucci sr

I hope you are right. I've heard of several conservative voters who would never normally vote for a Democrat who are planning to vote for Alvin Brown.

Incidentally, I heard the old Beatles song "I'm the tax man" on the radio today. That would be a great TV commercial for Alvin - just a photo of Mike Hogan with the Beatles song in the background ("If you say you'll walk I'll tax your shoes, 'cos I'm the tax man!")

* keeping my fingers crossed... Lets hope this race is not as sewed up as some would have us believe....

The voters are not educated enough for Jax to win this election.
Mike Hogan Destruction Eruption!

I live in Jacksonville and I have my doubts about Jacksonville voters (Or at least the ones who bother to show up).  More to the point, though, I have my doubts about our system of local government.  I will have to wait and see like everyone else.

I agree Jaxson.  It is looking hopeful.  When I was referring to the election "sewed" up , I was referring to a posting where a party said , more or less that Hogan was going to be our next Mayor.....kind of scary ,since there hasn't even been a vote yet, that they would be that certain. So if he does win , it would look awfully strange...to me at least.

I wonder how many dead people will be on record as voting for Hogan?

I'm with you, Mr. Carlucci.  I wouldn't vote Obama for dogcatcher but Alvin's got my vote.  My dad, who was formerly on the local Republican committee is also supporting brown, financially as well as by intended vote.

From Today's Daily Record (Thank goodness for Jim Bailey!):

Brown, Hogan meet again...responding to questions at the Arlington Council of the Jax Chamber:

QuoteHogan discussed his advantage in dealing with unions from his time in the private business sector with BellSouth and posed a question.

“Who do you want bargaining,” asked Hogan, “someone who’s done that and has experience or a rookie?”

Brown, answering second, seemed initially taken aback by Hogan’s answer and responded to the question stating that pension negotiations on the City’s side needed to be handled by someone without ties to local government, “an outsider.”

The race is coming down to who has the experience in local government, and the choice is clear in Mike Hogan. We don't need another "learning on the job mayor", we just had 8 years of it.

And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

Hogan has had decades to learn and hasn't learned anything about what this city needs.  It's time to finally get him out of our government.

Mr. Brown has connections to the local government and the whole area of Greater Jacksonville BUT also have a connection to the state and national levels while maintaining past experience of actually solving issues like his case in New Orleans. The problem with the local experience is the high saturation of the local influence. When you have a guy like Mike Hogan has been involved with local for too long, he would be a victim of the saturation of "Good Ole Boy, Nothing Get Shit Done" that has been plagued Jacksonville for the past 10 years.

Mr. Brown would be the excellent needle to pop that balloon of the saturation. And hopefully that LOUD POP will wake up Jacksonville finally...

Quotelike his case in New Orleans.

Who from New Orleans has come in and said Alvin Brown can lead Jacksonville, just like he lead New Orleans?

All I hear are crickets from New Orleans residents. Care to drag some people in and ask them for their quotes? My guess is that most NO residents never heard of him either, right or wrong.
