Say what you want about the local NE Florida economy, with 11% unemployment and very little job re-education to do anything but process a mortgage or build a house, I would tend to agree with this economists view.

QuoteA leading Northeast Florida economist says there is no comprehensive plan to grow jobs in the area, which has had irritatingly high unemployment for years.

And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."

With a mayoral election in less than 2 months, electing the candidate that would invoke such a goal as his first priority would be a big step in the right direction. Didnt one of the mayoral candidates run a $4 billion program for a previous presidential administration ? His experience in dealing with your point guarantees my support (and vote)!
Job re education is essential as the article acknowledges that Gov Scotts plan is an indirect plan which will deliver results in the long term, which is fine. Taking fed stimulus money for re education is a very good idea even if it involves Kinesian economics, which most conservatives bitterly oppose.

Go Alvin Brown!!

With his MBA from JU and his proven track record of creating jobs, he is best qualified to be Jacksonville Mayor!!

Sorry, but a BA in zoology (as Alvin Brown's GOB opponent has) can only lead to monkey business  ;D
In a society governed passively by free markets and free elections, organized greed always defeats disorganized democracy.
Basic American bi-partisan tradition: Dwight Eisenhower and Harry Truman were honorary chairmen of Planned Parenthood

I love how Cornerstone (the Lee and Mallot matinee show) thinks that 3200 jobs is worthy of a newspost. If Lee and Mallot had their pay tied to performance, as in the number of jobs they produce through the Jacksonville Chamber, some of you would make more than both of them combined!

it reminds me of the failure of downtown development. Lots of money spent for i dont know what with the opposite result. Yeah, like i got to the point where just hearing them opening their mouths was worse than the (presumed) fleecing of the taxpayers. Im referring to JEDC.
