160-seat venue, art and artist space proposed for Florida Theatre's vacant floors

The upper floors of the city-owned Florida Theatre building still sit empty, as they have since the city's planning department moved out early last year. But now there are proposals to fill those four floors, mostly with art and artists - and perhaps a new 160-seat theater.

In response to a request for proposals for the fourth through seventh floors of the Forsyth Street building, two groups have submitted proposals: the Florida Theatre and The BackLight Theatre Group.
