Skyway Ridership

I rode the skyway yesterday at the convention center station. As I walked up, I noticed the handicap door open. Not paying attention, I put a dollar in the change machine and paid. Once I got to the other side I noticed that I could've just walked in!

I just wanted to ride it so I went to central and back. It was 4:30 and pretty busy. (I'm not a daily rider.) Anyways I was wondering if any of you know if any of the other stations are like that because not only does that mess up ridership, but JTA loses more money than they have to!

The turnstiles are broken more often than not.

Also, the fare is $0.50.

JTA counts riders on the Skyway in two ways. One is through the turnstile and the other is through what is called automated passenger counts (APC), same way as buses. There is a laser on the doors that counts riders. This is a more accurate count.

There are some that would have you believe it is empty all day long.  I'm glad you shared that.

Oh yes I know. I just didn't put in "the change machine" but I paid $.50 for the ride.

Have bill changing machines been installed at each station?  I believe the King's Road station didn't have one last time we were there (had to jump over the turnstile..probably on film, so who knows where you'll find me in the future).
