Everyone is always posting and talking about how concerned they are, but how many people really express that to the City Council?
I don't think we should stay limited to our own individual concerns, but branch out beyond our own interests and support those things that are good and positive and necessary for the best interests of our society on the whole.
Our concerns should range from the health of our river and environment to crime to the homeless problem to education to preservation of historical sites, because all these things and more add up to our safety, security, and happiness.
How much effort does it take to follow the council agenda and watch for items that matter, like the extension of the runway, recent fees/taxes added and the stupidity of lowering too far the tax rate, leaving us unable to fund essential services, to correcting the stupidity of not allowing fellow residents to work on any kind of plane at home while people can work on hot rods, boats, and bikes?????
Stupid legislation walks across the desks of approval like a parade of foolish clowns, and we all suffer from them. It is sad that more people don't take interest, or even vote for that matter, and the dirty manner in which this city is run is simply disgusting.
If there are ten people, each with a different concern, that come together and share their concerns with each other, and draw upon mutual support from each other, we can assume that we should be able to have a better result from our own individual efforts. And really now, how much effort is there when after reading a post on a subject that you may agree with to send an email or show up at a council meeting to lend your voice in support of reason and what is right?
I'm interested in what you think about this. In a consolidated city there should be some consolidated efforts to effect positive change...
