Have you seen the Christmas display windows at Cohen Bros. Dept Store?

Instant nostalgia rush this afternoon!  Drove by City Hall and saw that someone has installed Christmas display windows in all of the windows facing the park.

When I was a kid, the whole family would make a special trip downtown when Cohen Bros. unveiled their windows.  Small crowds would be in front of each window oooing and ahhhing at the animated displays of toy shops with elves and ice skaters on a mirror pond.

I don't know if City Hall folks have done this every year, but this is the first time we have noticed it.  Just a great idea!  Tip of the hat to whoever was responsible.

But Winter Solstice Celebration display is to much to type!

i noticed them last night at Art Walk i think it is part of DVI's "Christmas.....errrr I mean Holiday Window" display. There is a really good one at Hemming Plaza Jewelers facing the park...it is in the 2nd story window.

Stephen,  Thanks for the information.  Didn't even know something like this was going on.  We will go downtown on Saturday and look at all of the windows.

What a great project!

Well I'll be damned. There's finally a reason for me to go downtown. And I will be going, to see this. I love Xmas.

Err...non-denominational December celebrations, I mean...

this is actually the 2nd or 3rd year DVI has done the displays

So how is it that a few of the more frequent posters to this site have never heard about it?  I read the paper 2-3 times a week and check out the website frequently during the day and haven't seen or heard anything about it until DW posted something.

CWG might actually make it DT (can I suggest taking the trolley), because he has a reason to go, and maybe if it were advertised, more would folllow suit.

Or maybe they did advertise it, and no one here (myself included) saw anything about it.

Shouldn't it be HOLIDAY display? I can't believe how insensitive you are. Of course, wouldn't weekdays and weekends be offended by the use of the word holiday? Perhaps just go with "window display"to be safe. Please edit your post.

Please do not admit in public that you believe the myth that there is some effort to take the Christmas out of Christmas. It is just a ploy our pastors use to try to rally us during the season I called mine on it He just laughed.

Metrojacksonville runs the story and pictures every year.

It is advertised quite a bit.

The JTA window was pretty dissapointing.

City Hall Pub was working on theres(Ghosts of Jacksonville Sports Past) after the JU game tonight.  Interested to see what they come up with.

Let me guess...the JTA window was 2 months late, like their buses. It'll finally arrive in February...
