Testing Out a New Camera

Just bought a Canon Powershot SX30 IS and needed to test out a few shots.  I'm still trying to figure it out because going from a digi point and shoot to a decent SLR is a big step for me.

Unfortunately most of my pictures so far are of family, friends, and home so I can't post those, but I took some night shots at a party for my sister and another girl last night.  We'll see how those turned out :)  Party was at Terrace Suites in Everbank Field, which is very nice if anyone gets to watch a game from there.  The band that played also played at Obama's inauguration, for the Bush's at their Kinnebunkport house, Donald Trump's wedding, etc...They were ridiculously good!

35x zoom and 10x digital zoom added on....still blurry :(

Pre-party

Post-party (sorry no people shots, that would be awkward i think)

This is all around 1 a.m.

Very nice... another fun test might be the boat parade and fireworks tonight...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Good stuff. Don't use the digital zoom. Stick with the 35X or less and use a tripod or rest the camera on a firm surface when taking low light shots.

Amazing shots.  The night time shots are great.  Cannot get that kind of clarity on a crap camera

I have the SX20 IS and I have to agree with Ralph, the pictures are great as long as you do not use the digital zoom. The Digital zoom algorithm used in this camera always causes the shots to come out a little fuzzy. Other than that we love this camera. Looking forward to seeing more pics.
