  This is the text of a letter just sent to The Editor
To The Editor:

I am one of the most vocal opponents of the Duval County School Board, three years plus ago fighting them over the closing of Normandy Elementary, even taking them to court over it. More recently fighting them to make mandatory air conditioning on any new school bus coming into service so kids don't ride in excessive heat. Despite how many times I have fought them, I still respect them and believe, even when I think they are wrong, that they are caring, decent people who act with dignity, deep thought and consideration, and from a sound moral base. Simply, I respect them.
I have made many friends and sources of information in all levels of our school district, from teachers to staff to administration, and not a single one of them has anything good to say about Wise. He has created an atmosphere of fear and frustration, and he has been vindictive towards anyone who questions him. He has damaged the ability of teachers to teach, having them fill out endless progress reports and self-justifying studies and paperwork that limit the ability of teachers to teach.
Teachers study long and hard through college, and enter their chosen profession for the love of bringing light to young minds. The light of education can lead a child as they face the darkness they encounter as they enter an often cold, dark world. Wise extinguishes that light through his arrogance and mean spirited actions. He is not professional, and the steady stream of teachers that rose, despite their fear of reprisal, to complain about the myriad of problems he has created are the canary in the coal mine. Something is wrong in Duval County Schools, and that thing is Wise.
For this reason alone he should be shown the door. Let us add to that his confrontational nature and his inability to be a team player, which is required by his position.
If we cannot trust our teachers to teach, and allow such a little tyrant to attempt to micro-manage them in such a one sided fashion, what will become of our children. His attack on Brenda Priestly-Jackson is a preemptive smoke screen, designed for no other reason than to stay off a mounting recognition of their having been fooled by him and the need for him to be removed. For every one teacher who may think he is doing well, I could easily find a hundred that think he is hurting our children and destroying years of progress. Where he does have good ideas, he has no ability to properly implement them or do so without having a negative result somewhere else.
I will be there Tuesday morning to support the very Board I usually fight tooth and nail, because as I said, while I am usually there fighting them, they are an honorable body, sound in discussion, debate, deliberation, and decision. They honestly care for and have a vested interest in our children. He should pack, collect his lifemate, and leave knowing that he is ineffective, unwanted, and better off elsewhere. A smart man knows when it is time to withdraw. Hitler, Sadam, and Wise seem to be of the type that stay until they utterly fail. These words come from someone with a history of standing before the Board fighting them. Our kids deserve better.
Lastly, I endorse Ed Pratt-Dannals to take over. He has been with DCPS for some time, and has a proven record of competence, honesty, and an ability to work well with others. He knows Duval County, and has earned it, and can serve the best interests of our children. He can bring light to this darkness.
