Has anyone noticed the letters coming down on the Bellsouth Tower?? Now we will have another dark tower at the top at night.

They're doing that on all BellSouth towers. They just wraped it up in Nashville lasdt week and are going to replace it with new AT&T signage, which is likely here as well.

Yes, they're in the process of adding AT&T's logo to the building.

i wonder if sbc--oops, at&t will ever get split up like ma bell.  it seems like most of the former bells belong to what is now called at&t, not to mention the company formerly known as cingular and one of the big satellite tv providers.

Glad to hear the AT&T logo will go up and that it will not be empty.

I recieved this email concerning the name change last night:

"The Bellsouth Tower is under going a name change and the outside of the building will say AT&T but the building will not have any AT&T people inside after about june of 2008. The company is moving and regroup centers not only in Jacksonville but all 9 states of the former BellSouth. But just look to see that the Forsyth St. side of the building is now empty, and the Bay St side will be started soon if the rain stays away."

AT&T name, but no company people.  So are they leasing out the entire building?

fsujax

They probably are just paying for the naming rights of the building.

Lunican

AT&T doesn't own the building. They just lease some space and use the top as a billboard. You can check to see who owns the building on the COJ property appraisal website. I think it's some nameless property investment LLC.

Oh good, another building we can tear down! How many parking spaces could we get out of that property?
