WHAT?! 120 idiots just had their own eureka moment to realize that we just need to make the downtown more "walkable" ? Come on! It is common sense.

What a bunch of buffoons. Sorry if I am being Mr. Negative, but I think I should blame on the voters including myself for electing these monkey wipes into the offices so they can go out of town for "little" vacation using some of our tax money and come up with some simple solution?

RAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Its only common sense for us posters, the outside world loves their cars and never see the purpose of walkabilty. The light bulb just happen to come on. When it comes to urban matters most people dont think like the minds of this forum.

This is sadly very true. I have a very good friend who hated both Boston and San Fransisco because as he put it, "you have to walk everywhere." He then extolled the virtues of Jacksonville and its large, spacious parking lots. (He's a civil engineer by the way.) This is a college educated man... who lives in a housing development 30 minutes outside of Greenville, SC in a gigantic, new McMansion. I think he typifies the modern upper middle class "everyman."

Regarding Springfield, with the reconstruction of Laura Street, it has the potential to be a short term connection between Springfield and the riverfront.  In addition, if the streetcar project picks up any ground, Newnan could become a stronger connection as well.

Like it or not, JTA has to do its part. They need to be more efficient and connectable. JTA needs to create a climate that makes it "OK" to be a pedestrian. We'll most likely get newcomers that don't even have a car. If we get enough of that element, it will permanently establish a pedestrian foothold on out local society.

Another problem to be addressed is the lack of enforcement of our traffic laws. (that is if there are really any) Just watch the news for one month, you'll hear, at least three times or more about some one being run over by a car. And they always mention that the driver was not charged!

If we really crack down on bad driving by taking away their licenses and/or fining the hell out of them, not only would the city see record revenue, but if those awful drivers can no longer drive, they can learn to take the bus, thereby increasing ridership!

IT'S A NO BRAINER PEOPLE!!!

LET'S PRESS OUR CITY LEADERS AND JSO TO PURSUE THIS IDEA!!!

                                    !!!GO JACKSONVILLE!!!

^COJ should do the same for the roads (basically the majority of streets in the city) they maintain.

But the "Parking Nazi's" would not have any  more jobs! ::)

F*** the Parking Nazi's. They are one of the bad seeds of the all problems in Downtown in addition to the crooked officials.
