The death of a funeral home is definitely a twist!  However, I was surprised to see how many possibly sale-worthy items had been left--chandeliers, religious artifacts, etc.  Very interesting (and sad) article and photos!  Thanks!

I actually would like to have or buy an item or two. Such a shame to see the deterioration of a really cool and historic structure.

I actually remember going in there as a child to a viewing and also a funeral for a family friend.  Another interesting twist was when i was growing up the McLellans  were our neighbors so we knew them well.  I knew the building was used most recently in a couple scenes from the filming of the John Travolta movie "Lonely Hearts" several years ago.  Sad to see the beautiful old building fall is such disrepair but still has some great pieces of history inside ! I agree I'd love to have one of the old light fixtures or something from this piece of history !

I'd love some of this stuff inside but kind of cautious of spirits....

Great pics. Sad to see it falling into such disrepair.

This is such a great looking Prairie School building from the outside too.

wish there were a pic of the outside facade, and the roundtable.

I WISH the exterior still looked that nice!

I agree with the poster that was surprised that so many marketable items were just left where they were. While the caskets were probably models from the manufacturers, they could either been moved or sold, assuming they are the same as the real deal. I often wonder about the same thing when passing houses slowly going back to nature, with no one intervening and letting their value drift away to nothing.
