Sadly, we are one or two short after JSO arrested Todd who shot Devares a couple weeks ago. I hope Devares will be out again. If not, his room mate Travis may be available to chat with us about what happened.

So I was watching Cops last night and they were busting up some prostution by putting undercover officers out there and arresting the Johns's..........I've never seen JSO take this approach in SPR. It would seem to be more effective than ocasionally arresting the HeHo's only to have them released the next day. The JOhn's have alot more to lose if they get caught. Things like families and jobs................
I'm guessing getting male officers to doll themselves up for stings isn't an easy sale.

The only thing a marked police car driving around the block is going to do is to make sure that the hookers/drug dealers are all safe and not bothered by residents. We would be better off if JSO would just shut down after dark (and safe a lot of taxes too). Some officers are also just too afraid to confront anybody at night. Based on discussions at Shadco meetings, JSO has a total of 7 or less vice officers who can work under cover. It only takes that long for them to be known.
targeting the actual prostitutes will not work. i think most people realize that the most dangerous people are the ones that have nothing to lose. funny, we have been told that they (JSO) can not do anything unless they see it happening - in hamsterdam, after the sun goes down, you pretty much can't swing a dead cat (not that i would sacarc) and not hit someone that isn't dealing, stealing or hooking out in public - there is no shame in their game.
historically the problem has been the denial factor. if the powers that be admitted there was a problem then suddenly no one would want to buy a house in springfield. and after all, it wasn't in their front yard. this is not an attitude that was imagined - we were told that we (hamsterdam) didn't need the help of the guardian angels or anyone else for that matter, we just needed to give money to the security fund.
the JSO factor - that is a whole different issue. as moved said, jso is their security. as long as they are there - not interfering with business (which for the most part they don't) they could probably eliminate their pimp (personal security).
sadly, some people seem to think that the hamsterdam cam shows springfield in a not so flattering light - really? not the fact that they are openly giving head but the fact that it is shown?
i also find it sad that so much attention is constantly given to the five people living in a house because it will be the downfall of springfield (again). it isn't the open sex that is going to keep buyers away at all, it is the ambiguous house that after much stalking was discovered to house 5 "unrelated" people. perhaps these people should start having sex in the front yard - that would negate the concern.
well there you have it. let's just knock down some of these pesky houses and throw up a super walmrt. what would you suggest that we crowd them out with at 2am?

Per Sgt Short at the Roundtable mtg on Wed, JSO did a john-sting last month, and I recall him indicating they made upwards of 20 arrests including a Lt Col. Don't remember him saying anything about plans to continue (which doesn't mean he didn't, or JSO won't), but that could be cleared up by a question at the next SHADCO mtg.

and the johns do communicate, there is actually an underground site out there that was posted on the old forum a long time ago. and the activity is NOT done by midnight or 1 am - week days or weekends. and actually depending on the week, thursdays are heavier than some friday or saturdays - but hey what do i know, they are just having sex in my front yard. i don't know about the 10's of thousands - we have probably 10 or so regulars and god only knows how many "occasionals" i can get you tag numbers if you would like we also have a data base of those. there is also a data base with all their (the heho) mug shots.

Our working assumption is that either side (prostitutes and johns) prefer not to be shown in public. Call it a larger, virtual, spot light. Shining the light on a prostitute in a way makes them more visible to potential customers. But they always move away from the light.

hot night indeed in Hamsterdam. Had around 6 hookers I think. At one point for of them dancing at 8th and Perry with their skirts pulled up. Need to see tomorrow if I got good footage (was hectic working two cameras). We got threatened by Johns and JSO just showed up at 3:30 am. I think Cindi made the call when the John threatened us and rummaged in his car looking for a weapon. Was probably around 2:30 but she should have a better time on that.
Was great to have Springfield Girl here. We stayed on the porch the whole time as there was plenty of "action" as is.
Given that this was the first night in a while warm enough to sit outside, I also made the unfortunate discovery of a bullet hole in my front window including associated bullet (looked like a 40, maybe 45 caliber). I assume it is from the shooting about two weeks ago up on 8th. The bullet only had enough power left to pierce one of the two panes of glass. Springfield Girl had the honor of sitting in the "hot chair" with her head about a foot below the hole.

In particular "Reynaldo", the smaller prostitute from the last video who is pretty easy to identify, was in heavy demand and at times literally had one customer park direct after the next so he could just walk up to the next car in line with minimum downtime. I left around 3:15, darn just missed JSO. It was still a traffic jam when I left. Seriously it was like sitting at the beach turing peak cruising time. I have never had traffic on my street during daytime hours anywhere near this heavy. We decided after seeing the same cars circle 10's of times it must be a form of foreplay. I did notice on my way home that one of the Johns was parked on the side of the apartments at 5th and Perry and was letting one of the "girls" out. Notable vehicles were the red Jag, silver SUV and dark Hummer. I have to say we are lucky to have Moved, Mrs. Moved and Cindi on guard. They are 3 tough, determined people. I commented multiple times that I was shocked the he ho's and johns didn't just move to an easier location.

we do keep a list of license plates, and the camera is pretty good in picking them up if I point it fast enough. I checked into looking up addresses, but FL is somewhat restrictive on looking up addresses for license plates. You need a specific reason and "guy likes to circle past my house at 2am in the morning" isn't one of them.

Maybe you could get a sign company to donate a billboard and post the Tag numbers for the world to see......make a phone call and point out to the local TV people just what your doing and why! Today is the first time I have seen a hooker on Main Street during the day in 5 years.
Theres nothing on main to keep the visual imprinting unfriendly to hooker trade.
It was right across the Street from the SPAR offices.
this is soooo exciting. we have been working with the heho's, trying to introduce a new business model to them, perhaps seeing if they can get unionized and maybe some health insurance. the new marketing slogan is "JUST DO IT.......on Main Street" it is really a much better area, Krystal provides a more balanced diet for them than the expired SPAM that the Shell offers, there is the 24/7 weave place for those last minute re-weave problems, and best of all, they have promised not to wash any cars. it really is a win win for all. don't you think?

Ok so someone mentioned the license plates... and posting them on a billboard... so I thought, why don't the hehos put up one of those deli-counter style "Now Serving" gadgets...... that would put the numbers to good use... and then they wouldn't have to clog up the streets waiting in line.

we thought that using the health department parking lot as a staging area, using the little pagers like they use at places like the olive garden and such. the gas they save they could use to buy snacks, we could have Eddie cater. there are lots more ideas but that is just the beginning
Kids ....it occurred to me that maybe the City should get involved in this! I mean after all, we have a shortfall in funds, something like 58 Million Dollars short in the next Budget cycle, here would be their chance to reduce that! Whether its an area, no operating outside of, or a bldg , SPAR Council seems about the right size or maybe even license, City could get its cut for very little..............maybe you guys are not thinking quite far enough outside of the box cindi? Just a thought!

Though the suggestion seems facetious, the ‘wieners with your wieners’ snack cart could actually be the best proposal here. Get a licensed hotdog cart and take turns running it up and down Hamsterdam. It fits the distracting legal activity tact that Stephen proposed, and could have other benefits. You guys are already running around all hours of the night with cameras; could a hotdog cart be that much more trouble? You might even make a little money, since the primary late-night hotdog customer is precisely the sort of person already driving through your neighborhood: guys leaving bars who have low standards and a bit of cash burning a hole in their pockets. And as for your neighbors who don’t get involved because they’re too busy getting their drunk on? Well, drunk people love hotdogs! This sounds like a fine way of coaxing them into community involvement. And a hotdog cart is portable, so you can move from hotspot to hotspot, befuddling the hehos and their customers. We will be live a bit earlier tonight, probably at 11pm. Yesterday has had a lot of activity (as in supply, but actually not that much demand) which may be in part to the warmer weather. The peak time is likely again from 1am-3am (not sure how long we will cover it, but likely until 2am).

we had a defensive shooting last week. An attempted robbery gone bad at the 1700 block of Perry. But it doesn't look like anybody got hit. The victim defended himself using a handgun.

1600 block of Perry: lewd conduct, victim less then 16. One of the prostitutes was arrested for loitering/resisting without violence but sentenced to only 1 day. (the loitering charge was dropped and only the "resisting without violence" charge was considered)

Hamsterdamcam will be running again tonight! My forecast is for a quiet night, but well, you never know. Some of the developments this week in Hamsterdam:
- Reynaldo Blanco, the actor in the BJ video from a few weeks back was arrested and plead no-contest to "unnatural/lascivious act with another person". He will be sentenced next week and has been released until then. Go Hamsterdamcam!
- JSO presence has been impressive all last week. We had what looked like a car driving by a few times an hour. The only times I saw some of the he-hos was while talking to a JSO officer. Other then that the he-hos have stayed pretty much in the shadows.
With the warmer weather, this attention comes just at the right time. We would usually see an increase in traffic right now but seeing a decrease now may actually help with some more persistent change (I know.. I am always the optimist :) ).

Incorrect English is incorrect. I feel sad for the English language.
I will run the camera again tonight, even though I don't expect much to happen. I only saw the usual group of he-hos out once this week, and they left "far west" on 8th street as soon as they spotted me.

i find it interesting that some think this is showing the neighborhood in a "bad light". which is worse, showing this so the neighbors know what to look for and get a "heads up" (no pun intented) or keeping multiple armed robberies hush hush and waiting until it escalates to the point that someone gets killed? now that is the kind of neighbor we should all have - NOT!
We've heard this before...about keeping it all quiet, so outsiders won't know what's going on, and those who wish to keep their head in the sand..happy. Well, they can pretend that nothing happens here, and they can do their best to whitewash things, but the truth is, we've had an increase in crime and I would prefer to know what the hell is happening.

Did it ever occur to you that the act of illegality is not being questioned, with who/whom or what or even when, but where it is taking place? I have a great idea..........where do you live? actually it has evolved from more than just catching them give head on 8th street while cars drive by and more about the the fact that the "full disclosure" is really disturbing to some. they actually become upset when people want to make public the fact that there has been a rash of ARMED robberies in springfield (not hamsterdam actually, something about them being shot at makes us a less desirable area). evidently it's the thought that you should just whisper it to your neighbor, don't call jso so maybe they can get a gun off the street but bitch later because nothing was done (ever play that game where you have a large group and one person reads the actual message then whispers it to next person without the benefit of the note and they tell the person sitting next to them and so on - and gee, is the message even close to the same by the time it gets to the end?) let's not let everyone know, because then people might what - take extra measures? the people that think the information should be kept hush hush are not "neighbors" they are selfish.

This item has worked wonders on Laura Street. You line up your red video X on the ho's butts pretty well, so I don't see why you couldn't do the same with this little gadget.
The hos might scream "Ooohhhh, mah koochie on fire!!!" or something to that effect, so, if you have small children, be sure to send them to the back of your house, or at least cover the little tyke's ears.
I support the Hamster damcam...Years ago we had male prostitutes on Park and King! we used to drive by shouting and Identifying them as Prostitutes...continual harassment drove them away.
My opinion is anyone who can't find a sexual partner through normal social behavior...and has to go into another neighborhood to anonymously get off in public view or on someones lawn is exhibiting animal behavior. >:(
