GO JAGS!
That's a good sign, but we can't get content with 55,000 people or so. We need to be content with sellouts, bottom line.
I'm getting four.
I didn't think there were any Dolphins fans
I'll be there and buying extra to give away to those who can't go.

You'll see us dancing in the stands after the fish win on Sunday!
Marching out of the stadium when they lose.
QuoteI'm picking up two more tickets for Sunday.
I'm buying 1 online or at the stadium, not going to scalp, just trying to do my part.
I will be at the Colts game. I honestly think the game will be on TV. But there will probably be unsold club seats.
I picked up another 2 for the Dolphin game this weekend. This is a huge game.
The Jags are in control of their post season birth with a strong finish starting this weekend.
The Dolphins are playing for not only the wild card but also their division.
The fish are playing their best fb and the Jags have been good at home. If this game doesn't generate excitement I don't know what will.
I want to go to the game to watch grown men cry in National TV. I want to see Peyton Manning crying in the end zone, when we beat him AGAIN in Jax. I go to the games to watch the players cry all over the CBS sets.
I will be at Sunday's game as well as the Colt's game on my bday! All I want is for the Jags to win!!

Miami is on fumes at this point. The D took a huge hit with Jason Ferguson's (NT) season ending injury. Without him clogging the interior of the line, Jones-Drew should have a little more running room. Another good matchup is Mike Sims-Walker and the Dolphins rookie CBs. In the future they'll be good but they have been giving up some big plays from time to time. The loss of RBs Ronnie Brown and Patrick Cobb also make the Dolphins wildcat-less (something I think the Jags would have trouble stopping). I would throw Chad Pennington (last year's comeback player of the year) in there as well, but Henne is turning out to be a better QB. With the Jags now 7-5, the Dolphins injuries and playoffs on the line, this game is a lot more interesting that it looked at the beginning of the season.
Can you even imagine what kind of lift the crowd could give to the team by selling out such a meaningful game?
Got my two, I'll be there with my MJD jersey on in section 115. The same place I have been for every Jags home game for the last 6 years. It will be nice to see the stadium full again, it really has been a little depressing looking around this year.

I'm trying to give the Jags a chance to make the game competitive. It would be pretty damaging for ticket sales if Ricky runs wild all over them and the game is over before halftime. ;D

QuoteGene Smith is straightforward, simple and a little uncomfortable when he’s the focus. He’s no jokester pulling punch lines out of his pocket.
Those are qualities that make him seem like a perfect fit for his job. Twelve games into his first season as GM of the Jacksonville Jaguars, he works quietly, anonymous to most NFL fans. That’s just fine with him.
With his team surprisingly in control of one of the AFC’s final playoff spots as it prepares to host Miami Sunday and Indianapolis next Thursday night, he’s been more popular this week, carving out more time to talk to people like me.
His first draft class has made as big a contribution as any in the league and includes a third-round defensive tackle from Temple, Terrance Knighton, and a third-round cornerback from William & Mary, Derek Cox. Coming from those non-powerhouse schools, both picks raised eyebrows when their names were called in April. Both have been effective and look to be long-term building blocks.
Can you do anything about the weather? Cold and Rain, that always brings in droves of wishy-washy fans.

Gene Smith has been dynamite so far.
Just picked up my 2 for Sunday, you can get 50 dollar seats still, so get them.
Colts game, they only have, for single seats, club seats, so they said at Jags ticket office. Too bad too, I wanted to buy from the team, instead of scalping. But I will be there for both and show my support.
Looks like the weather for the game Sun will be warm and the showers may be gone by kickoff.
But reednavy would know better than I.
I hope so. I hope we have a good crowd and the Jags play well and win.
Sims-Walker is listed as doubtful and likely will not play. That is a huge blow.. our offense is totally different with him on the field as opposed to on the sidelines in sweats. John Henderson is not expected to play either. Hopefully we can step it up, Miami is without Ronnie Brown so there are no excuses.
That's right, no excuses!
Well maybe it can be our excuse for not beating them as bad as when Marino was playing.
This time it won't be J.J. Johnson the Jags will have to tackle for four quarters.

I went by the stadium yesterday to get my tickets for the Colts game and they told me something similar. I was looking for 2 seats together and I was told all they had left together were in the club seats, but then the guy found a couple in section 122 for me. He said there were individual seats scattered around (as of 2pm yesterday), but that has to be a good sign for ticket sales, right?
The news report on Thurs or Fri that Touchdown Jax was basically backing off their goal of a sell out for the Colts game worried me. I wish they would announce how many more tickets we need to sell to avoid the blackout. If it's a small number, I think it would motivate people to snap them up. With all the stories of people buying extra tickets to give away, it seems like people are trying to step up and avoid the blackout. By not announcing ticket sales, it makes it seem like the number is disappointing and they're trying to hide it.
Well, their playoff hopes to a hard hit today.

Ironically, they are still in the playoffs after this. Walking out of the game, I thought they were out, but because there is a crowd at 7-6, the jaguars win the tiebreaker because of best conference record (Some drunk guy told me so, and I didn't believe him!).
So, if the Jags win out, that puts them at 10-6, which I think will do it, as they only have 3 conference losses. If they win two out of three (beating Indy and Cleveland, and losing to New England), they might sneak in, but they would need some help.
sorry Steve but I don't think that is correct....Denver is 8-5 and gets the first wildcard spot....the second one would first be decided on head-to-head, which Miami would have over Jax. and the NY Jets....only in the case of the Ravens is there not a head-to-head matchup so conference record would guide.
I told you guys what the result would be today. You're lucky all those Dolphin turnovers and a shanked 38 yard FG kept the score as close as it was. I can't wait to hear rabid Jags fan go postal on the radio tomorrow. On the other hand, I heard the crowd was over 60k. Although it felt and looked like a Dolphins home game in my section, that's a good sign for the Jags. Lets hope for a sellout on Thursday night.
Yes, there were way too many dolphins fans at the game and if the offensive play calling had any imagination we would have won the game. Defense gave the offense way too many opportunities. I really thought they should have had closed captioning for the national anthem for the English impaired Miami fans. It could have started "Jose can you see..." Really, I'm fed up with spending money on these games. I'll take a Florida game anyday for the same expenditure. Way more passion and better results. BTW these fins fans can go back to their little corner of the Caribbean/ b/c its not Florida.
The jags are still in the playoff wildcard - though we could lose it, we're still #2 (behind denver) for the wildcard.

So if we end up tied with Miami we need a three way tie.
If the Jags and Dolphins both win out, Miami would win the AFC East outright.

Lake, lets be fair...Miami-Ft. Lauderdale is a metro area of about 5 million people and they still struggle to fill their stadium....and don't even get me started on attendance for Marlins games in that stadium...it is quite possibly the worst sports town in the country!
Lol, you started it. The worst would probably be Atlanta.
I do seem to recall some sort of avatar bet going on.
Congrats on your fins winning, Lake! The Jags are just not up to playoff caliber, even if we still lead the fins for the final wildcard spot.
I still love me some Jaguars Football!
Don't worry, that lead will only last till Thursday. In any event, if they both win out, they'll both be in because Jax would have to beat New England, who would then lose the tiebreaker with Miami for the AFC East.
Anyway, the Jags really aren't good (especially offensively), considering the Dolphins are average. Outside of the saftey blowing the coverage on that Holt pass, it never felt like the Jags were going to drive across the field to score. Instead it was suprising when the offense did not go three and out.
After watching them yesterday, I'm still not a Del Rio fan, but have to admit he's done a great job this year of squeezing blood out of a turnip.
Maybe if we try to bunch up and run it up the middle one more time on third down it will work. How many times did the coaching staff say that to one another yesterday. Hey give it a try but if the other team is shutting that play down try something else.
Quotebut have to admit he's done a great job this year of squeezing blood out of a turnip.
I agree Lake. This team is in a rebuilding. The fact that they are even in the playoff race is remarkable. Same with the Fins actually. Miami looks like it has found its quarterback. Both teams have the seeds to do something better next year.

Yeah, it was pretty predictable.
Once again another exciting game. The Jags were lucky to still have a shot in the 4th quarter up to the last minute.
It was great to see the stadium as full as it was regardless of who they were there to root for.

Henne didn't impress during preseason but he now looks like a keeper. They are 7-3 since he replaced Pennington and the WRs don't look as bad as they did in the beginning of the season. However, it sucks that Ronnie Brown is out. The wildcat package added an extra dimension to their offensive game.
Shwaz, good man. I'll find the proper avatar for you later today.
Henne was very good in college. He picked apart the Gators in the Outback Bowl a few years ago. Parcells definitely knew what he was getting. Not sure why he picked Pat White though. Looks like a wasted pick to me.
QuoteShwaz, good man. I'll find the proper avatar for you later today.
:D Awesome! :D
Copperfield, don't remind me. Pat White was a wasted pick. They need safety and WR help, not a gimmick at QB. I hope the Jags don't make the same mistake by taking Tebow too high.

Well, the campaign apparently worked and we'll get to see the Colts game on the NFL Network on Thursday. Now, hopefully a miracle happens and we ruin their perfect season.
I wonder if a local affiliate gets to air the game in addition to the NFL Network - Go figure, we get a home game on TV, & only about 25% of the region has access to the NFL Network........
A local station always airs it. I think CBS47 will be airing it this time.
Where did you get the 25% figure?
^The Colts and Jaguars official station simulcasts the game. The Jaguars Official station is CBS 47.
QuoteWhere did you get the 25% figure?
- um, yeah - that's not scientific, but the NFL Network is only
standard for Satellite subscribers & is a pay/package option for Comcast subscribers.
NFL Network is available on Comcast in their Digital Preferred package.
Well, I will be at the game, so it really doesnt matter to me if it's on tv or not. Go Jags. We NEED a miracle.
Jacksonville.com is reporting that the Jags/Colts game will not be blacked out.
http://jacksonville.com/sports/football/jaguars/2009-12-14/story/blackout_lifted_for_jaguars_home_final
Also according to this story they said Fox 30 will be broadcasting the game locally.
I will be there as well. Should be a great atmosphere. I would say to anybody that does not have a ticket, go to the festivities anyway. Make the TEALgate party a huge success.
Profootballtalk.com is reporting that the Colts will not be resting their starters this Thursday and will approach this game just like they did the thirteen games before it. This is obviously going to make it even tougher for the Jags to pull off a playoff birth.
One reason I think is the last few times the Colts had homefield they sat starters at the end of the year. Then they lost their first playoff game at home.

There was a discussion about the merits of resting players on NBC and ESPN last night....my guess is that the Colts do start resting starters but not until the last two weeks....except if they get a huge lead on Thursday
Maybe a first half of blitzes to change their minds.
A first half of blitzes would accomplish the goal of having them rest their starters because the Jaguars cannot get home on the blitz and Manning would have them ahead by 28 points at the half.
The Colts are undefeated and clearly the better team, but two questions:
1) Why does everyone assume they will beat us?
They won 14-12 the first week of the year. The Jaguars were clearly a much worse team Week 1 than they are here in Week 15. We have grown each and every week (though sometimes more tangible than others) and have improved each week. I am sure the Colts have as well, but losing by only 2 points on the road with 5 rookies playing (3 starting) in their first ever game does not necessarily spell doom to me in Week 15 at home.
2) If making the playoffs is going to be worthwhile, shouldn't we need to be good enough to beat a full-strength Colts team at home?
Making the playoffs is cool and all, don't get me wrong, but what good is it if we are just to get smoked in the first game? If this team is good enough to beat a full strength Indy team at home and NE team on the road in the next two weeks, then this team is good enough to make some noise in the tournament. If we aren't good enough to beat Manning and full supporting cast at home we shouldn't want to lose the draft position and make the playoffs anyway. We WANT them at full strength and full effort in this game because that is a true barometer of whether the Jaguars have what it takes to do more than be the "already in the ring" team in a playoff game.
I will feel much better if Rashean and Big John are playing.

A-freaking-men. The draft position is not as much of a concern, because draft position only changes for the two super bowl teams, and one game is not a huge difference either way.

With all the sarcasm going on based on attendance at Jaguars games, even when we have tickets sold they still make fun of it.... Just now on Sportscenter, they said,"the Jaguars are going to try something different, and play to a sold out home stadium". Then the guy insinuated that it was the Colts fans buying all the tickets. It's really odd we don't hear any of this negativity about the other teams having trouble selling tickets....
^Find me a team that is in a playoff race that routinely has 20,000 empty seats each week.
Good to see all the non-premium seats sold, the 50-100 buck seats. Anyone want some $210 club seats, which are still available for the game?

Sure. However, it would look a lot more full if they covered up a good portion of them before selling tickets. ;)
Anyway, its the end of the season for a team not going to the playoffs, Christmas weekend and against Houston. Not the necessary ingredients for a sellout in Miami.
The Dolphins and Jaguars both pretty much suck for this season...I have a gut feeling that both will be players in the post season next year. Similar young teams with talent that needs to develop (and have a strong draft).
