This. The fact that the same thing happened to their location in Jax Beach reflects more on the current state of BG than Downtown.
I had forgotten about the sale... as with most closed places downtown... I'm sure another thriving business will snap up the location...
Sad, but I'm surprised it has taken this long. It was a weekly stop before Valentino took over. How far the place has fallen since then is the only real surprise. The two times I've visited in the last 6 years have been instantly regrettable.
Also, it appears that Edgewood Bakery is for sale. What a waste.

Just landed in New Orleans on an empty stomach and saw this article while checking into the hotel before lunch.

I too am excited for this! It will complement Indochine perfectly. If we could get those two buildings next door renovated, that could be a really nice stretch of restaurants/nightlife on Adams

Burrito Gallery closed the day they brought in Valentino and Marco was no longer running the place. We used to walk to the downtown location all the time from the Southbank. RIP.
Valentino gets a lot of heat for tanking Burrito Gallery, but he doesn't get enough heat for ruining the corner of Edgewood and Post, aka the old Edgewood bakery. Shad still gets all the blame, but he owned it for less than a year and he invested some serious money into capital improvements to the interior and exterior of the building. Valentino bought the building in February of 2016 and promised a French Pantry, but then let the building rot for 9 years. Just about anything would have succeeded there as long as the doors were open. It's a miracle that French Pantry hasn't tanked, but I'm guessing that's because the prior owners stayed involved.
Not a surprise. I remember going the first couple years it was open and it was good. We even had a few work events there. But it's been a ghost town in recent years.
It's going to end up another Mexican restaurant, isn't it?
Zunzibar will be replacing Burrito Gallery

Zunzi's is delicious!! Not sure how long ago this was, probably 2012 or 2013, but Zunzi's beat out Olio on Food Network's show best sandwich in America. I'm very excited to have them here in Jax.
