I'm not a fan of Tim Tebow but I still would love to have him on our team (Jaguars). The fact that he has recent playoff experience would make him unique on this team, and quite valuable.
He could play on special teams at the least.
The downside of adding him to the roster is outweighed by the potential upside.
Doesn't he have a couple of good years left in him?
He had his chance to join the Jags, he passed and we got an NFL quarterback. Nice guy, but the NFL just isn't for him.

the key word there is TEAM. Obviously based on the past few years, the Broncos had a lot to work with.
Why should Carolina sign Tebow or anyone out-of-game shape? They already have backup QBs on the roster, the season is just about over, and Newton may not miss that much time anyway.

Tebow seems like a nice enough guy, and I have no doubt that he's a solid locker room leader, but Denver made the playoffs
in spite of Tebow, not because of Tebow. While the defense was locking down opponents and the offensive line was giving him better protection than Blake Bortles could ever dream of, Tebow was barely putting up 17 points a game (comparable to last year's Jags, one of the worst offensive teams I've ever seen). I mean, come on, there were games where Tebow literally completed two passes.
No ill will toward Tebow, but it's a massive stretch to suggest that he "led" the Broncos to the playoffs. Good guy who was in the right place at the right time.

It is great to believe what if scenarios would work better than what is and/or has happened, but there is never any validity to the proposed results.
There is a reason he is no longer playing in the National Football League and I seriously doubt the reason is of his choosing to not be playing anymore. If he is the messiah of quarterbacks, I find it hard to believe no team has him on their roster. This should be the most obvious writing on the wall to everyone, but for some reason it is not...

Sadly, there's a lot of people who think that. In reality, they're ALL WRONG. If Tebow is so great, why have 32 teams passed on him and he now works for mickey? Again, he's a great guy, just not cut out for the NFL.

I would orchestrate it thusly:
Tebow has a rabid 'cult' following, they will buy seats no matter what for at least ½ of a very bad Tebow season. Let him pay a few in each game which will bring amazing national media attention 'Home town boy does...' type of stories. If he never improves and remains so-so, then he can sell seats and remain playing a bit as a relief QB. At the end of that season, he could be cut or traded if he didn't make the grade, meanwhile the seats are sold and the positive media is already in the hands of the masses. Win-win for Jacksonville as a city, and at worst not a lose-lose for the team. If he somehow lights off and becomes a blowtorch of victories, we can reassess the plan.
No star salary, no star promises, just a shot and some really amazing PR for a team that has been word-whipped for the last several years.

At the risk of beating a dead horse because I've written about it in about 500 posts in the past two or three years, the national media recognizes Tebow as being unable to hit the broad side of a barn with a pass and perceives Jacksonville as a minor-league market that can't support pro sports.
Signing him is walking into a parade of chortling media members ridiculing Jacksonville as a place that needs a sideshow to sell tickets. Nothing but negative PR would come of this move. This is why the Jacksonville-despising national sports press has desperately tried to will it to happen.
Incidentally, the Jaguars' ticket sales could be better but they're hardly anemic, and the seats that fail to sell are mostly expensive club seats on the east side of the stadium. The Tebow cult isn't going to buy club seats to watch him sit on a bench.
And he's not even so-so. He completed 46% of his passes in the year where Denver miraculously won some games in spite of him (though they lost 4 of his last 5 starts), then somehow was even less accurate when two other teams gave him preseason chances.
And there is no earthly scenario where he starts over a quarterback with an actual NFL-caliber arm and "somehow lights off." Or where the Jaguars' three talented rookie receivers are left to rot as Tebow throws 8 passes a game.

Couldn't agree more with you, Gamblor. And I am shocked more people don't perceive it this way. As far as I am concerned, this family was willing for the city to be humiliated in the national press as long as it served personal interests. The "Just draft him!" movement and the implicit boycott threat were an embarrassment to this city and to every passionate defender of Jacksonville and its viability as a professional sports city.
And the Jacksonville media's continued failure to report on the charitable activities or faith of Jaguars players, while sparing no opportunity to hype Tebow's, is mind-boggling and created a perception among certain locals that he was saintly while the team was full of "thugs," and made it trendy to root against the franchise until organizations like Bold City and the reincarnated TD Jax rose up in late 2009. I don't think the Jaguars will ever leave Jacksonville, but the media and the Tebow adulation sure created a risk that that would happen.

Love what you added, especially Mathis stuff. I first met Rashean when I was getting an old Land Rover I had serviced. Now mind you this was when Rashean was a very young player on his first contract, so as I was waiting and looking around the show room, I saw him pull up in a very beat up old nissan or toyota. As he started looking around, I came up, introduced myself, told him I loved his play, wish'd him the best, yada yada yada. Instead of brushing me off, he shook my hand, took a few minutes to really talk with me. Driving home I wondered if maybe he was going to sign a new deal since he had been looking at some really high end cars. The next day, it was announced he was and had gotten a big contract. I met him again several years later at a charity event after all the accolades and other big contracts, and he seemed like the same extremely friendly and kind hearted guy. I told him then I was disappointed he wasn't spoken of in the likes of Freddy, Jimmy, Tony, ect. and he seemed to really appreciate that. Really an overlooked legend, and a totally stand up guy who asks for no attention, just goes about trying to do his best at everything. If we had a team of Rasheans, I'm sure I'd be very happy about the team on and off the field.
Oh and I know what you mean about having your loyalties questioned over this. At several UF events people have said I'm not a true Gator, because I don't bend over backwards to rejoice in Tebow. Apparently remembering that Chris Leak won the first title and Percy Harvin the second during the "Tebow Era" is a bad thing. I also remember Tebow crying on the sideline like an idiot during an SEC title game which he blew, but one must never speak of such ills!

Sorry, but your stats are completely misleading, not sure whether intentionally or not. You cannot say that Tebow played 35 games and compare that to Gabbert's 29 games. Tebow started 16 games which is almost half of what Gabbert started. Tebow is credited for games played in which he did not take any meaningful snaps at QB, including 12 of those 35 games with the Jets in which he barely played at all. When you look at Tebow's starts vs Gabbert's starts, plus factor in the total yardage, TDs, and turnovers, it is actually Gabbert who makes Tebow look like Joe Montana. Not saying Tebow was the greatest, but at least be honest when you post comparisons.
Tebow's production was worlds better. More TDs and very close to total yardage in a little more than half the games started. Gabbert beats Tebow in completion percentage, but that's about it.
