Poll
Question:
Who will win the election?
Option 1: Obama
votes: 38
Option 2: Romney
votes: 25
Who will you vote for?
I got an email from MJ saying I have to show proof I am a Florida resident before I could participate.
Tight race!
That's funny. Mine came from Rick Scott.
Low turnout will help Romney in the real election.
Although not in a Metro Jax Poll.
Romney is too far down in the swing states to have a handle in my book.

AT LAST! The long awaited details.... I could find myself voting for Romney if this looks workable.

I actually saw 3 different 'Obama' signs yesterday mixed in with what must have been thousands of Romney signs... I've got a hunch that this is going to be a historic upset, an absolute avalanche of Romney votes.
Turnout is low!

I think the poll is more of a reflection of our rather liberal readership then it is a snap shot of Jacksonville or the nation. I've just got this feeling Romney is going to win in a huge upset victory.

as for my prediction, I'll stick with Obama getting just over 50%

no one has won with 62% of the popular vote. I think the highest was LBJ over Goldwater at 59%
I'll say Obama takes 50% of the popular vote and 302 electoral votes.

How could you possibly know this?
And as for the election, I think it is naive to think that the storm has any impact on voters decisions. Is a voter in Florida or Ohio going to change their mind based on watching AC on the CNN? Are they going to suddenly vote for Obama so he can stop the next storm?

The poll is not "who are you voting for" but "who do you think will win", which are quite different questions. While the electorate looks to be fairly even in the majority of polling (which is crazy, how is it that the American public is always so closely split??), the national polls for this same question are split about the same as the metrojax poll is. About 2/3 think Obama and 1/3 think Romney.

because early votes are tracked...and in many states, results are being released.
That said, Dems always do well in early voting and Repubs do well with absentee....from what I'm hearing, Obama is dominating the early voting in FL and the % gap in absentee ballots here so far is smaller than it was in 2008
27-20 is a football score not a Metro Jax Presidential poll result. If we cannot get the 27-20 changed let's request moving the poll to sports.....
I think Romney will win Florida.
We're just four days away from the election and swing state polling shows Obama ahead in almost every state. Granted, Romney is within the margin of error but Obama is still ahead. The last poll CNN posted has Obama ahead by 5 in Ohio. The only poll I have seen in the last few weeks that shows Romney ahead in Ohio is Rasmussen, which is run by a guy on the Fox News payroll. Romney can win Florida and Virginia but if he loses Ohio, he is toast.
I thought that they just released the party affiliation of the voter not the way they voted?

I think you assertion that results of the early votes being released is highly unlikely. I will acknowledge that there is polling of people who are voting early and they have the poll results but I doubt that they are releasing the actual results.
I voted early today at Murray Hill. Ive never experienced such a turnout, on an early day to boot. Today will be the largest turnout yet for this years early voting. Not one person left amidst an hour long minimum wait!
I'm voting fo Obama.

So the Orlando Sentinel backed Romney, who is the Jacksonville Times Union backing?
The TU backed Romney stating two reasons.
1. That Obama has done a good job advancing the Economy out of crisis and does not plan to change.
2. That Romney can reach across the isle better. I guess they are endorsing the Republicans plan to focus only on their top priority to deny Obama a second term at the expense of the country. I guess they don't feel like making that partisan stratagem a successful one will encourage further partisanship.
I am not kidding that is the rational they espoused.

Ock... this is quite funny.. I remember when someone asked Romney if he had any advice for the President, and he said, "Start Packing" . ;)
This coming from a man who REPEATEDLY promised 12 million jobs to the American people ( how the hell he intends to do that, is a mystery) . IF he is elected, I would hope that anyone who votes for him HOLDS HIM TO THAT PROMISE, since no one else in history ever accomplished that.
As many times as I've vote for Obama this week, Florida should be soundly in his column. I never knew a single person could vote so many times.
My wager is on Obama 309-229. Winning all the battleground states except FL and NC. In other words, he wins Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, New Hampshire, Nevada. Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota are not true battleground states, and Obama wins those too. Colorado and Florida are my least secure selections.
Democrats pick up senate seats in Maine (via Independent Angus King), Massachusetts, Indiana and Nevada. GOP picks up Nebraska and North Dakota, although upsets are possible in both of those.
Democrats win between 4-9 new seats inthe House of Representatives.
GOP picks up NC govership but all other states stay with the same party as before. Same sex marriage will be approved in Maine, Maryland and Washington.
If Obama wins Virginia, you can just go ahead and turn off the TV and go do something else as it will be over.

sorry Tim, but 12 million is nothing amazing so either candidate should be able to get there....the economy we've been living in the past 3.5 years has created 5+ million new private sector jobs...and if we weren't still shedding public sector jobs, the total # would be about 6 million....and for a note of history, over 23 million jobs were created during Clinton's tenure.
Ok, at the risk of putting my foot in my mouth later, I feel confident enough to report that it appears Obama is going to win tonight.
At this point, it doesn't look very promising for Romney.
This election is over. Obama won it.
Florida is pretty close but a chunk of votes in Miami-Dade and Broward haven't been tallied. If Florida tilts to Obama, this thing is over.
I am pleasantly surprised at how well Obama has done in FL....not many expected him to win the state
It's over. Obama just won Ohio.
And yes, it is over....heck Fox News has Obama at 262 without VA or FL
Fox News has given up the ghost. They have already stated that Obama will be reelected. Sorry, Ocklawaha.
Google has a great breakdown of the whole country. You can click on FLA to see the counties:

LOL, turn to Fox. Karl Rove doesn't agree with the Ohio numbers. He thinks they are off and that Milt still has a chance.
Well, it's all over but the crying now. Which Romney is already doing, saying he doesn't concede Ohio. Ok, well knock yourself out, the rest of us will move on. See you in 4 more years with more Romneysia I'm sure.
Yup, Obama doesn't even need Ohio. It looks like he is going to carry FL, VA, and CO.
He swept the electoral map. The popular vote is close though, but Obama is winning that too.

So pleased. Although I'm disappointed in some of what Obama has done and failed to do over the past four years, how could one expect him to produce full recovery from the whitehouse failures over recent years. And with Romney, I really feared another four years of total failure of the Bush kind.
Perhaps, now that Obama doesn't have to worry about being reelected, he can be more forceful and resourceful in this term. The way he seemed to bend to the demands of the established powers in the financial crisis was not something to crow about.
Well its time for bed here at 2:34am 11/7/2012 I look forward to all the political signs coming down today. still another state to go and you were linking popular vote!
Jacksonville is one of the few US metros that had the republican party winning the county. It was pretty close though (51% red 47% blue). I blame South Georgia bleeding over into Jax making the republicans win Duval County LOL.
Other US metros that had a higher republican count include
Phoenix
SLC
OKC
Boise
Fort Worth
Anaheim
Sarasota
Pensacola
Tulsa
Chattanooga
4 more years, and Florida results not in yet.
Obama spent a lot of time here in 2008...and lost Duval by about 2 points
He spent much less time here this year....and still only lost by 3-4%
That speaks volumes to their ground game!

It was the same thing Miami-Dade was counting. There was an article in the Miami paper about it. Duval, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach were the hold ups.
