Potential buyer for the trio?????
Interesting. It would be interesting to hear what Linea will say about this.

Hopefully more news will be forthcoming.
They cut out the apartment's?! Well damnit that figures! Apartments are the best thing about them. DT desperately needs more apartments. Now what the Hell's going to be there?

Whose "they"?? Linea? Apparently they're not involved anymore. It's a Pennsylvania company now.

Given the amount of money one would have to put into those buildings and the limited floor plates, turning them into apartments isn't a easy thing to pull off. If one wanted to convert an old building into apartments, they'd be better off going after the Ambassador, old JEA building, Furchgotts, or Monticello Drug Company buildings.
The Barnett building should be apartments.
^I didn't recognize that they put the Barnett under contract as well. I glanced at the thread title, saw "Trio" and went from there. Out of the four buildings, it's the only one that could be. It could work as a hotel or mix of several uses as well.
Maybe the PA firm is partnered with Linea, LLC. From the looks of it, it doesn't sound like Linea, LLC has the money on its own to buy the trio or we would have had heard more news by now, surely (it's been 3 years now, right?). If there is a partnership perhaps Linea plays the Developer role.
Not enough information but for guesswork.
I keep hearing third hand rumors (somebody I know, knows somebody who knows) that Shah Kahn is behind some of the companies that are negotiating to buy downtown properties.
Sounds like someone's hopes, like mine, turned into stories, but we can at least hope it is so.
I've heard similar rumors, but not khan, these were a rich family from up north. Descendants of the Rockefellers or something lol.
^I've heard it was aliens.
I heard it was Socialist Developers
No, it's a 10-story Wendy's restaurant being developed by Sleiman because of the mobility fee moratorium. Expect 1,000 jobs to be created and all the drywall installers in town to be employed again.

A 10-story Wendy's around the corner from me?
Could it possibly be?
Oh how you torment me! >:(
All the bricks on the outside of the building will be replace by drywall.
Ah SHIT! I was hoping for a 12 story Krystals...
12 storys of restaurants sounds... interesting.
Fast food on the first floor for the on-the-go crowd with progressively more upscale establishments as you head to the top. What would be the greatest restaurant that could occupy the top spot? Top hat, tie and tails and a waiting list a mile long for the epicurean privilege.
If the Trio is finally being developed for anything, its something.
Now if I could just find a buyer for Annie Lytle ;)

Actually, I believe this is quite common in Tokyo - several different restaurants, clubs, etc... occupying different floors of high rise buildings.

Indeed, Takashimaya Times Square in Tokyo is exactly what you're describing, and it's awesome.

Sounds like a fun concept. Hope it happens.
I was able to meet with some out of town developers today who are interested in developing affordable housing downtown. From what we talked about there seems to be lots of interest (from out of town developers) in developing more downtown housing. Now is the time for the DIA to get instantly involved! We could see some big things happen in the near future.
Would love to something happen to those buildings. Does anyone know why they're always being touted as a trio? I wonder if anyone has ever tried to just develop one building at a time.
I guess the price for all three is what makes it the most attractive.

Damn shame there is nobody at JTA to 'put a bug in the developers ears' and have them request, nay, DEMAND a streetcar line as the number one incentive to getting these projects off of the drawing board and on the ground...

That's exactly what I've been saying for years now, Locals are not really interested in building up DT. It could only take people from out of town to do it.
And that's why if JTA hires that guy from Florida to run JTA instead of an outsider, JTA too will continue to fail. It's not a question of intelligence, it's just that the powers that be here in Florida do not want change, no matter how good it can be.
At least they're consistent over at JTA, we can almost always count on them to do the wrong thing.
Not to hijack the thread, but what are the chances the dude from San Fran will get the job...?
^Better than even, I think.
Whose the popular choice? Haven't been keeping up really. My gut reaction is "go with the guy who managed/ran BART"...but I plead ignorance with all the choices. Wish I had time to get caught up.
I'm fearful the Florida guy from Atkins will get the job. So far, I prefer the Ford guy because of his recent experience at Muni over the Florida consultant (Martin) and the Pittsburgh guy (Bland). Also, we should find out pretty soon if Bland gets selected for the Atlanta job.
Keep in mind that it's also a matter of them accepting the job even if it were offered to them. Especially people coming from farther away may not want to make the move.
I still think Bland is the favorite
isn't there a thread for discussion this already? i doubt who ever is hired as the JTA CEO will have much of an impact on what happens with the Laura Trio.
