It could a park, a building, a restaurant, a landmark, a museum, anywhere.
Curious as to what everyone thinks, as there really are like a thousand choices.
Mine are:
1) Memorial Park in Riverside
2) The fourth floor balcony at the Main Library
3) The Landing at Christmas time
1. Everbank Field on a Sunday gameday
2. The Ortega River Bridge on San Juan
3. My house
1. (http://i43.tinypic.com/33yi89c.jpg)
2. (http://i41.tinypic.com/9sywd0.jpg)
3. (http://i39.tinypic.com/10nx5qb.jpg)
the 3rd one is the zoo yes?
Tough to tell for certain, but my first guess was the Cummer.
For me, in no particular order:
- Jacksonville Farmer's Market (cultural diversity)
- Memorial Park (when in the space, it feels like you're in a more lively urban city)
- Adams Street (historic building density)
-PS #4 ( I have always loved this building and everyone knows I want so badly to help restore it )
-My Grandparent's Former Home in Venetia ( Some of my fondest childhood memories , days spent, family time together, Holidays were spent there. I am so glad it was spared from demolition and it is beautiful today)
-My Home AKA the dome@1620...as shown in my Avatar pic ... ( I like unusual and the home fits the tab perfectly.) This one also had a very close call with demolition and with a lot of money spent and many months of hard work , we brought it back to life)
:)
The one at the Zoo is realy nice. I would go with Friendship Fountain, the drive through Ortgea/Riverside, and the river front view of the bridges.
1. Brand new favorite spot. Brooklyn, Stonewall and Chelsea St at the banks of McCoys Creek which leads under the Times Union and into our St. Johns River our American Heritage River a Federal Initiative.
2. Sandy banks under Duval St on Hogans creek next to the old St. Lukes Hospital and casket company that leads past the Maxwell House Plant into the St. Johns River our American Heritage River and into a vibrant Downtown Destination on our Waterway.
3. My home.
Cork Arts District
Everbank on Jag Day
My home
plus a zillion other places i cant cram on the post
I love Jacksonville!

Correct. Gardens at Trout River Plaza to be specific.
http://www.jacksonvillezoo.org/botanical/the_gardens_at_trout_river_plaza/ (ftp://www.jacksonvillezoo.org/botanical/the_gardens_at_trout_river_plaza/)
I had the pleasure recently to get to know Bob Chabot, the horticultural director at the zoo. You will get to see his brilliance soon with our new bioswale project at San Marco Library.
1) Riverside Avondale
2) Fort George Inlet (in a kayak)
3) zoo
1) the food scene (13 gypsies, orsay, town, olio, indochine, chomp chomp, taverna, french pantry, et al)
2) riverside/avondale
3) atlantic beach neighborhood
In no particular order:
The Cummer Gardens
The Florida Theatre
Confederate Park
Also competing for the top three were the Jacksonville Arboretum, the riverfront bulkhead on Laverne Street in San Marco, Avondale's pocket parks and the bar at Orsay.
1. The Timucuan Preserve, especially little Talbot Island. The parks, beaches and preserves are far and away the best part of living in jax.
2. The Tacachale Birthplace National Monument inNeptune Beach. My mother has lived there since the 60s and it's been in the family since the 1940s.
3. Friendship Fountain. Such a cool setting right in our downtown.
Walking Hemming Plaza & surrounding streets/areas after Midnight.
Home plate seats @ Baseball Grds Jax with a Bubba Burger.
Treaty Oak with a date
Five Points @ Riverside, Town Center, and Atlantic/Neptune Beach
I know my #2 isn't too popular around here, but I have had some good times there on a regular basis.
^^^Hey, I'm with ya, I love #2. I can't get enough of Libretto's Pizza. :)
Heckscher Dr from 9A to Nassau Co line.
Memorial Park
Northbank River Walk from Fuller Warren to Acosta - This has an urban like feel to me. (view)
Cummer gardens towards evening, small chapel at St. Marks across from Stockton Park, the Ortega bridge and park.
Its probably no surprise to anyone who knows me why my first choice is what it is:
1. The "Brewery District" of King Street (Intuition Ale Works, Bold City, Kickback's, and Pele's).
2. Klutho Park in Springfield
3. Friendship Fountain
Ribault Club/ Ft. George
River Road riverfront park/ San Marco
Ford Assembly Building
4th (tie)Five Points when the newsstand was still open/ Goldenrod Trail UNF/
Springfield Industrial District/ drive from Riverside to Ortega/
1. The Beach
2. Riverside
3. Everbank Field
The St. Johns River could be substituted into my list.
Ft. George/Little Talbot (Specifically the inlet by Alimacani Park/Boat Ramp)
Riverside (as a whole)
Lakeside park (at the Ortega bridge.. best view of the city in town.)
1. Walking around Downtown
2. Driving down Talleyrand/Wigmore/Buffalo and up to Trout River
3. the Beach
1. At the beach with Family and friends
2. Most backwater creeks and canals off the Intracoastal and St. Johns waterways in my kayak
3. By my friends pool with family, an endless pitcher of Mojitos and oysters on the grill
1. Boone Park (the bit with all the trees between Herschel and Park) on a cool autumn's day, when there are leaves all over the ground and no one is around.
2. On the beach in Neptune Beach early in the day, when it's quiet and all you can hear is the birds, the breeze and the waves.
3. Downtown (and the Northbank Riverwalk) during the Super Bowl!
In no particular order:
1. Chamblin's Bookmine on U.S. 17. (Love Uptown, but you can get lost for days in the Roosevelt location.)
2. Springfield. (Lots of character(s) - both the architecture and the people.)
3. The Riverwalk.
Runner-ups:
1. Kingsley Plantation (Fascinating history, incredible views)
2. Atlantic Ocean (at Atlantic Beach)
3. St. Johns Cathedral (Great architecture, peace)
1. Riverside (5 Points, Avondale, King/Park)
2. Atlantic Beach (Residential architecture, quiet in the morning, M Shack and the town center there)
3. St. Johns River
1.Ft George island at night
2.Momma's house
3.Home with friends
- Chamblin's Uptown (love the cafe on the weekends)
- Kent Campus @ FSCJ (where I teach the most classes, such a great little cozy community of peeps)
- Riverside / 5-Points
1)Memorial Park- best place to people watch on a busy day.
2) Ft. George Island- Mt. Cornelia (highest pt on the east coast south of outer banks) & the grand old mansion the state is letting fall apart. Try the off-road segway tours. Pretty neat way to see the island.
3) Willie Browne trail at Teddy Roosevelt preserve-Gorgeous martime hammock with a trail along the river bluffs and an overlook that is the perfect spot for lunch and a good book.
#1- The Beach
Tied for #2- Memorial park & Northbank river walk- Great to visit on any day
#3- Jacksonville International Airport- The modern facilities makes for pleasant travel
1. Yacht Club, middle of the week in the summer in the morning at the pool.
2. Avondale, Dancing in the Streets and Christmas.
3. Beer Garden @ the Baseball Grounds, one eye on my kids at the playground and one on the game/Bold City in hand.

+1000. This one is often overlooked. One of the smoothest, easiest airports around.
#1: Anywhere on the St. John's River or its tributaries
#2: EverBank Field
#3: University Club or River Club. Doesn't happen much, but when I get the chance to go up there, its the best views in the city.

1)Memorial Park- best place to people watch on a busy day.
The last two times I've made the trip out to Memorial Park (this weekend being the most recent), it's been closed.
Really frustrating.
Love it when it's open though :)
1. St Johns town center
2. Walmart on phillips hwy

As odd as it sounds,, its a pretty nice Walmart. Not sure I would rank it above beach, river, downtown etc though,, but hey,,,, to each his own.
Quote1. Yacht Club, middle of the week in the summer in the morning at the pool.
New deck pavers, new coating inside the pool, as well as new deck chairs should make the experience more pleasurable.

2) Stockton Park - love the view, but haven't been in a long time
3) Walking the beach at night
1. Avondale (especially during the holidays)
2. Driving over the Ortega River Bridge/Park

High dive off of the floaters into the River would make our locale super-awesome. Also, $1 beers before 2pm.

I guess membership has it's privleges. :D I guess as an outsider, my only entry in the members only area would be after I beat you by 10 stokes or more (handicap allowing).... Anyone want to play for a few beers at the track they call Timuquana?
The cab of a Florida East Coast SD-70-2 Super Mac diesel blasting past 'The Pig' on Old St. Augustine Road.
Jacksonville Terminal when it's empty... I can still see the faces and listen to the ghosts.
Yellow Bluff Confederate Fort in New Berlin (almost under that fancy big bridge at Dames Point) walking among the trees and thinking what it must have been like when my ancestors blew the hell out of the USS Alice Price, and shot up a few other ships...
Yeah, it's a big city but even those of us with a twist to our likes and loves can find our niche.

Even an FSU fan can figure out how to get into Memorial Park. It's open every day. Have you been to Riverside?
