Interesting article! I love Hogans Creek and just think it is one of the most under utilized assets both DT and in Springfield. It is supposedly too contaminated to use, or do anything with, but tides go both ways, and it cannot be good for the St. Johns, it should be cleaned, restored and an active part of our parks system!

What is the latest on the Matthews Bridge replacement?
Are there actual plans in place?

I wonder if any excavation of Timicuan ruins has ever been done in this area. If there was a burial mound there, there should be all sorts of archaeological finds below the surface.

I can't confirm but I've heard in the past that there was a burial mound at the base of the Main Street Bridge on the Southbank.  We preserved it by building an expressway over it.

Lake, Great work again. This is Dist.7 and this creek has the immediate potential for a pocket pier on this urban waterway.

On Friday Oct. 8 city hall Conf. room A ste. 425. the Jacksonville Waterway Commission is holding a subcommittee meetining on FIND. With a new city council and Mayor and with the commissioners of Find meeting Nov. 12 in Duval county this could be a huge opportunity for the people of Springfield.

FIND projects are introduced and acted on in phases.

Springfield residents if you want action now then show up at this meeting. Otherwise it could be another election cycle before your concerns are heard. (4 years)

Marc McCullough city council candidate for Dist. 7 and I paddled Hogans Creek. Marc if elected said that this issue as well as the 680' Promised Downtown Public Pier will be very high for him and the constituents of Dist.7

I have yet to hear back from councilman Gaffney. Has anyone heard from councilman Gaffney?

I do plan on attending the Nov.12 meeting of FIND ( Florida Inland Navigation District)
My message is this.

FIND is good.

Jacksonville is LOST.

North Miami, Fieldafm, I am stoked and pumped to paddle this treasure with you and anyone else that wants to see and experience this potential waterfront access point that will allow all of us to access, promote, and celebrate our St. Johns River our American Heritage River within our Downtown Jacksonville Overlay Zoning District that was created with 2003-627.

Good morning, as I said this issues (Hogans Creek) WILL be on the top of my list. I have been here in this community for 40yrs and had no ideal that "we" had such a treasure. Please call Mr. Noone (John) and go see this wonderful water way, and let me know when we're meeting and I'll be there!!!

nice photos. Every Jag home game I walk over the Duval St viaduct and look down on the creek and think to myself what a waste and how sad. My buddy and I always envision it being cleaned, opened up with full access. Too bad the City can't or will not get this project moving forward!
