So sad that the National Media is so biased against our city that the voice of reason comes from an Englishman writing for Reuters...

http://blogs.reuters.com/sport/2010/09/14/jaguars-have-some-roar-left-in-them-yet/

Love these quotes from the article:

"There is something different about a tailgate in a small lot next to a classically Southern wooden house with the smell of B-B-Q dominating the area and local folk, not some faceless corporation, offering up their square meters for parking."

"There is nothing glamorous about Jacksonville or their Jaguars team but since when was American football supposed to be about glamour?
Isn’t this the game of the hard-working American driving a pick-up truck to a tailgate, drinking a few beers, grilling a few burgers and then roaring on his team? "

Yes its about glamour & flash...its not the 1970s anymore...The tailgate element has not changed. I mean The NFL is about winning first, but glamour & flash is NOW apart of the game. Sux Jax got in while the seasons were turning. I mean the Cowboys play in a space ship, so does the Cardinals...I wont even start on Cybertron at The Meadowlands. I would not be proud of this article.

too bad it's not for a us based news agency. i'm sure no one will read this outside of jacksonville and the uk. i believe jerome bettis wrote something about how bad jacksonville was fan wise and that the stadium was only full because of tim tebow. he also suggested that the team find a new place to move. I wonder if anyone thinks the chargers should move too because their game is blacked out? how about tampa? the raiders? anyone writing about them????? nope

Its a united front against the city...media was against Jacksonville from the Start...people from Jacksonville are against Jacksonville also. Many people in Jax dont want it to grow. I read some comments on TU the other day where people were saying Jacksonville had crime because of the Superbowl & Katrina...People in Jax didnt want the Superbowl. Its easy to beat on Jacksonville because the city is not as united...I mean Tebow Jerseys at the Jags game??? Sometimes I understand why Jax gets so much heat. They proved it this weekend.

Cooleyfett,

What did we prove this weekend?

The number of Tebow fans were in the hundreds and we packed a stadium on an incredibly hot game.

I've seen more Tom Brady and 100x more Steeler jersey's at a game.  The Tebow effect was proven to be a non-story and thank god we can move on.

I agree that sometimes Jacksonville is its own worse enemy, but Sunday was a positive.

They proved the inability to multi task. Jags were not the only Jacksonville TEAM playing that day. Jax doesnt get a pat on the back for supporting a regular season opener. THEY ARE SUPPOSE to do that. There are things that a CITY is SUPPOSE to do that Jax doesnt.....and it kinda sux. Jax is getting ripped by the media for many reasons. One they dont want a team in Jax, two Jax people DONT do what they are supposed to do with their teams. Forget Tampa, Oakland, Buffalo & St Louis...stop comparing Jax to the shrimps of the league...Compare them to the big dogs! Cowboys, Steelers, Packers, Bears....because Jags play those guys too. Jax can at least be known for its fan base....but its not the fanbase aint active in the sports world. go to any sports forums or blogs the Jaguar fans are never present, they are never present on sports talk...they are absent. I wore my Jags cap to work....and dudes were asking me what the logo was?! For crying out loud man. A freaking Cat with a teal tongue and their like "what team is that? Oh the Jaguars...Ive never really seen their logo"...and we are 5 hours away from Jax. At first I was annoyed but then I thought...these guys watch sports center like every other american man. Jags get no love from Sport Center. I think Jags fans as unit should unite with a collective middle finger to these ESPN, SI, sports talk people. They have a major effect on what sports fans think in general. So What jags fans did Sunday was NOTHING! They are suppose to pack out their arenas, ballparks & stadium....its the CITY thing to do.

I think we spend to much time worrying about what others say. Jags need to win more and fans need to support the team more. End of story.

Your wrong Keith every time one of those articles portrays us as Podunkville potential visitors, investors and every other business prospect could be negatively influenced.  The media calling us out for not attending last year or putting us in the list of possibilities for L.A. is their job.  So  much disingenuous info has been put out that does bother me.

Sticks and stones yada yada................I live here, national media doesn't! If they used a simple fact checker, they would be shooting themselves in the foot! At that rate, their feet must look like swiss cheese!

This is what I planned to say until I read Keith's post. 100% agree.

If (when) we get through this rough patch and the Jags' future in Jax is secure, the story will be equally positive. It all balances out.

If investors and businesses are putting alot of stock into what the media says I am shock they are still in business. MetroJacksonville has shown alot more goes into getting companies, businesses, and corps, etc to move ,expand to new locations. If Jax has what a company is looking for their going to move here because is whats best for the company not what some envious journalist has to say.

+1....glad you are not in denial. The media has its foot on the neck of Jacksonvilles NFL reputation. Fans packing the stadium CONSISTENTLY will shut them up, but The Jax sport fan does not know how to do that & dont even understand what they are actually paying for when buying a ticket.
