QuoteJACKSONVILLE, FL -- Club Paris, which opened at the Jacksonville Landing in June of 2006, has closed its doors.

The space that Club Paris occupied was purchased by the owners of Twisted Martini.

They plan on doing extensive rehabilitation for the space to turn the downstairs into Maverick Rock 'n Honky Tonk, which will be open to the general public.

The upstairs will be converted into Miss Ellie's Bar 'n Parlor and will be a VIP area.

The entire space will undergo extensive construction and renovations, but is expected to open in time for the Florida State versus Alabama game in Jacksonville on September 29th.

The space will again close after that weekend so that final preparations and renovations can be made in order for the clubs to open for the Florida/Georgia weekend at the end of October.

The owners of the clubs expect to have their grand opening in November.

More information on the Wild West themed clubs taking its place.

QuoteVenture Quest purchased The Jacksonville Landing nightspot Wednesday evening and began renovations on the space Thursday morning. Come October, the two-story pink palace will be gutted and transformed into a Wild West-themed honky tonk.

"When we open, you'll never be able tell it was a Club Paris," said Steve Anderson, regional marketing director for Twisted Martini. "The only pink will be the rose in our bartenders' cheeks."

The club's lower level will be dubbed Maverick's Rocking Honky Tonk, while the upper level will be re-branded as Miss Ellie's Bar and Parlor. The latter will have a few VIP sections, but most of the upper floor will be open to the public. The theme is old-fashioned Wild West, and the music will match: Anderson said the club will specialize in country, bluegrass and Southern-spiced rock 'n' roll, including live acts. The interiors will be completed by Design House Jacksonville (the firm behind the interiors at both Twisted Martini locations and Chew, a downtown restaurant). Expect wooden floors and furniture embellished with faux furs and animal prints, complete with a bordello atmosphere. Oh, and a mechanical bull.

Yee- Haw!!!

I'm not a big honky-tonk fan but have been know to jump into a line dance or two after a few drinks.  This concept should actually do well.

I hate to say it but it's because we are.  There are far more Honky-Tonkers in this town than the posh Paris Club patrons.  I think it's a good fit.

As long as it brings people willing to spend money downtown then its all good.  Any idea of what happened with the Fudderuckers deal?

The place is haunted.  I heard the walls swallowed up the construction workers....

I disagree. I don't think there is more of one group or the other.

Jason

Well it fits the Landing's weekly free concerts which are mostly Country groups.

The grand opening was a lot of fun.  I think just about everyone in that place had a bit too much to drink.

Really? Well it said Rock & Honky Tonk. Its many rock fans in Jacksonville, especially classic rock, but what is Honky Tonk? When I hear "Honky Tonk" I think of that wrestler from the 80s that used to dress like Elvis & used to break his guitar on people.
