Their not getting anything I commend them for it. That shows they really care about the team staying here. Once the convention center was paid for, that money was diverted to the stadium fund on top of the funds they already had. Taking 25% more would just have been greedy. I am happy to see that we are finally doing something THE RIGHT WAY. Kudos Jacksonville, Wayne Weaver and the Jags.

Maybe they get their luxury boxes back.

After two dark, depressing years of palpable negativity, I'm actually sensing a real feeling of optimism from the city of Jacksonville about the Jaguars and their future here in the city.  Hopefully it translates at the box office. Go Jags!

So, another 5 years of no convention money coming in? Wonderful. Rob from Peter to pay Paul. Sounds like a terrible deal for the city. That convention money should be going to a fund to build a new convention center. The Jags should have agreed to pick up stadium upkeep in exhchange for the city giving up its 25% stake.

Such good news for the City!  Thanks to EverBank for stepping up putting a local tag on the stadium.  EverBank Field sounds very cool as well.

The bed tax money is going to maintenance of ALL sports facilities.  Its not like three years of bed tax money would fund a new convention center(the Sports Complex already received bed tax money previously).  You're talking about 5 million a year that was previously going to pay off debt which no longer exists... and the city contractually has the burden for stadium upkeep on all three sports facilities.

Furthermore, if they were seeking a deal worth 5m/year... the city basically gave up the 1.5m it was going to get for a 5m/year deal to make the deal more economically viable for a potential sponsor.

Jags put 2k jobs in Jacksonville and have a direct economic benefit of around 130m/year.. giving up potentially 1.5m/yr that the city already wasn't counting on having to help an NFL franchise and major employer/business presence in the city to be more economically viable sounds like a no brainer to me.

After a couple of years with no naming right deal in place, seriously T-U, is the most appropriate headline really "Jaguars will keep all the money from EverBank Field naming rights deal." I know it's part of the story, but it certainly doesn't seem to be the headline to me.

It's a decent name!  It could be worse, like the "1-800-ASK-GARY" or something like that.  I shudder to think how it could have gone.  Imagine "Cash For Gold" stadium.

CSX was too busy with their tacky signage.

Don't joke b/c we now have the 1-800-Ask-Gary Ampitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds in our great state.  Gotta love Tampa  :)
