This video's gone from a couple of hundred hits on youtube before the July 4th weekend, to 10,000 one week ago. Now it's closing in on 40,000 as of today.

The rule is, if you're a Jax native and they mentioned the high school you went to, you'll love it. It's all subjective, but it's great to see someone "rep" Jacksonville in a positive light.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The "Duval Diddy" is burning up YouTube and Angel McLaughlin is the woman tearing up the vocals.

"I'm surprised that it did as well as it did, and it's doing as well as it's doing," McLaughlin said.

McLaughlin runs a salon by day but has dreams of making it big in the music business. So she thought, why not start with a ditty about her hometown?

"I said, you know what? OK, OK. I started vibing with it and started writing and said, 'This is going to be a dance. This is going to be a song," McLaughlin said.

Most of the dancers in the video are Paxon Middle School students.

Also, it's entertaining to see people debate on what the proper spelling of ditty is :D

The young lady in the video is Angel McLaughlin, who is the daughter of Bishop Vaughn McLaughlin of the Potter's House Christian Fellowship church.

Represent! That's what I'm talkin bout! DUUUUUUUUUUVAL!!!!!!

It shows Jax in a better light than anything I've seen from the Chamber of Commerce types.  Why don't we let Angel come up with something to replace "Jacksonville, Where Florida Begins".

I saw this linked to on the Jaguars forum. Although skeptical initially, it turned out to be a very nice little song.

Production value could use some professional help, but the young lady has style and a good voice. No gangsta nonsense. :)

Pretty good!  We need to get the hit count deep in the 6 figures.

My high school was not mentioned... therefore I have no interest in the song  :)

But seriously, the audio and video production quality is pretty good.

Still doesnt top 'How We Used to Chill in the Ville'... 69 Boyz

I was cool to hear some of the private schools being thrown in as well. Except BK. they're feeling very left out according to the comments on youtube.

It sure is funny that somebody not affiliated with the city government or with any "commitees" managed to come up with something that talks about Jacksonville in a more exciting way than anything developed in an official capacity.

I agree with Vicupstate. Let Angel come up with a new tourism campaign.

I also think the city should reach out to its residents for some of its other programs. For example, Mayor Peyton's Book Club. There are illustrators right here in town - as well as authors - who have already produced books about (or featuring) Jacksonville. Why go thru the trouble and expense of creating something, when what you're looking for is already there?
