So, is this the night in question?

A man told police someone shot at his car as he drove along West Adams Street downtown about 4 a.m. Aug. 28.

The man said a few hours earlier a friend got into an altercation with other patrons of Da Real Ting Cafe, 128 W. Adams St. He said as he and two friends drove away from the cafe later, someone fired several shots, striking his car several times.

The victim described the car from which the shots seemed to come, but police could not locate the car, according to a police report.

Police said the victim's car had a bullet hole in the right rear door, right front door, right front quarter panel and front right passenger window.

If it is...Whoop de do. I DO NOT condone the use of weapons to settle an argument but, drunk folks do stupid stuff. Happens anywhere and all the time now. Maybe hiring a JSO officer for outside could help that.
Close the place down? That is a little knee jerk in my opinion...It happened outside according to this article.
I do agree with Comsence though  "I do not want to hear people shouting outside of a club and music blasting till 4:30 in the morning"  JSO should become more involved in that issue. Is there a SHADCO for the core? Maybe they don't realize their patrons and music are a problem for the Carling. Very few people lived DT not so long ago. Maybe that's why WA Knight seems to have a lot of turnover.

i don't know if it's connected.  i think the original story said there was a fight inside and someone shot at the floor and hit two people in the foot because they were dancing nearby.

I agree, this kind of place isn't what will give life to downtown. I know that I won't go somewhere that's near a place like that...it's a zoo when the crowd starts letting out.

Yeah, that's why in several major cities, bars and nightclub districts aren't located in the heart of the core.  Instead they spring up on the edge in areas like old warehouse districts.
