Dog Walker............I agree! There is so much potential there, its just a crying shame no one see's the potential!

if no one saw the potential, yesterday's tour (witgh many leaders) would not have taken place.

^That is what I was thinking.  The FEC Amtrak is happening right now people rejoice. I know we need to watchdog the process that does not require just being negative.

I was in Orlando this weekend & it was the lead story on the 11 o'clock news Saturday night (interviewing folks in Daytona).

I wish I were sanguine about the future here. I recall past trips down the FEC, and discussions about the service. Amtrak's record isn't good, nor is that of those responsible for its funding. Look at the terrible gaps in the "system"- gaps that once were filled: Salt Lake-LA and Salt Lake-Portland, Pittsburgh-Indianapolis-St. Louis, North Coast Limited route, Florida- New Orleans, Florida-Chicago; and the gaps that have been there since the inception: Kansas City-Denver, Twin Cities-Kansas City; Atlanta-Memphis-Texas; Ohio-South; and dozens of others, large and small. "Amtrak System" my butt.

Jax-Miami would be excellent for us, but so would Jax-Atlanta-Cincinnati, Jax-Birmingham-Memphis, Jax-Asheville-Knoxville-Cincinnati, Jax-west coast of Florida.... Oh, I could go on, and so could you.

I need to stop looking at my old "Official Guides"!

Really nice photos, it seems really different to see an Amtrack train on the FEC corridor. I see plenty of freight trains, but never have I seen am Amtrack train.
SunRail, Florida's smart transit idea. :) (now up on the chopping block) :(
