Well, I just like fact based info. It's all good and well to whine about lack of transit dollars, but lets be honest and see who votes AGAINST transit dollars.

Here is YOUR opportunity to hold YOUR Democratic and Republican Senator responsible ( we are an equal opportunity advocacy group, No?)

We just got word from our team on Capitol Hill - despite the massive blizzard bearing down on the East Coast this week, the Senate is pushing forward on an $85 billion jobs bill.

But the draft being circulated has not a single dollar to address the crisis in transit funding, which threatens severe cuts to essential service and the loss of thousands of jobs.

Tell your senators: Public transportation investments create jobs!

And it's not just transit that's been left out of the Senate jobs bill - there's no funding for innovative projects that can move us away from foreign oil, not a dime for high-speed rail or Amtrak, no reform of highway funding…the list goes on.

But a recent analysis of the previous economic stimulus package shows us that investments in public transportation have produced twice the jobs of highway projects.1 A package of investments developed by Transportation for America has been projected to support nearly half a million jobs.2

If we are serious about creating and saving jobs, our senators need to insist on investing more in public transportation. Transit operating assistance - the emergency dollars that make sure America's bus drivers, rail operators, and station agents can get paid - keep all Americans moving.

When they don't get funded, bus routes are eliminated, weekend and evening service is reduced on trains and subways...millions of people are stranded at the station. And in difficult times, the economy suffers even more.

Don't let your senators squander this opportunity to make it right - demand that they fund transit operating assistance and other key transportation proposals!

Neither side has shown any imaginative leadership in standard railroad applications. Suddenly we have a tub full of cash to dump on a super train system, in a very limited couple of places nationwide. We still have NOTHING for Amtrak but the status quo, worse still we have informed everyone that if you want new passenger trains, don't count on Amtrak or Federal help.

So we're funding dreams, and ignoring what we already have. That XX Billion that is being largely wasted on High Speed Rail is enough to expand Amtrak into a real national system, with frequent arrivals and departures from major city pairs. So three cheers for the chest thumping This-a-crats, or That-ub-licans, you have shown me nothing but stampede mentality toward a questionable quick fix, at best all we will get is pieces of a dream.

Who else is NOT going to fill out the petition to our two US Senators from Florida to call for expanded Amtrak funds, while simultaneously bitching about a lack of Amtrak funds for a REAL national system?

There is so much whining on this board without much REAL action, it isn't even funny.

Meantime there is chest-thumping about who reads their blog etc. Real Sick Puppies ( their concert in Jax was terrific BTW)
