I know Wayne Weaver would love it. 15 million left on his deal would be tough for JDR to pass up though.

Good, don't let the door hit you on your way out.

^^^Well said yall. I totally agree. Although I'll be pretty surprised if Riley doesn't get that job.

First Coast News concluding tonight we shouldn't be surprised if Jags are in the market for a new coach by week's end.  Repeated "rumors" that Weaver is unhappy with JDR over treatment of players, involvement in community, work ethic, etc.  They said where there is smoke there may be fire.

My take:  Sometimes to reinvigorate the fan base (translated, sell more tix), owners have to make changes even if they personally could live with the status quo.  I suspect Weaver may currently be in this boat once again as he was with Coughlin.  Weaver appears to me to be patient and supportive of his personnel beyond what the fans accept.  But, it's a business, and if the fan base is persistent enough, he has to factor in their feelings.  If JDR heard from USC right now, it could be a win-win for JDR and Weaver with both saving face and the fans getting the blood they are looking for.

Jack is USC's 3rd choice.

Riley, Fisher, Jack.

Fisher sin't going anywhere, but Riley has no reason whatsoever to stay at Oregon State.

Jack could be the one, don't discount it.  JDR needs to go; he didn't even get close to Coughlin's success and accomplishments, not even close.

I know it's "passe" and old and dusty news/opinion but I'll say this again; Weaver should have never gotten rid of Coughlin.

I know; what's done is done; move on.

Bring Bill Cowher in.  Who do y'all like as the new coach if JDR is fired?

Riley is out, he signed a 3year exstention with OSU. This really opens the way for Del Rio to USC.

I saw that.

I kinda hope Jack goes......not b/c he's not a decent coach, but b/c the fan base needs something to latch on to.

Weaver's issue with Coughlin got personal when Coughlin said something about Weaver's wife and something important to her. JDR has learned and says nothing of substance outside the locker room.

Coughlin was the GM and coach essentially. He was not willing to give up front office power. When do you hear about saying something to WW's wife?

I don't share the same disdain for JDR. I think he did a good job this year and exceeded many expectations with a young team... although you could give most of the credit to Gene Smith for choosing those players.

The talk this morning was 3 names and possible candidates:

Cowher
Schottenheimer
Dungy

I would love to see any of these guys coach here... any one them would boost ticket sales plenty.
I just hope we can court and compete against the bigger markets with better fan bases.

And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Schottenheimer is the only legit option out of those 3.

No way in hell Cowher or Dungy leave thier TV posts. No possible way.

Schotty has a proven track record, i'd take him.

Carroll to the Seahawks is now official.

I could see Cowher coming to the Jags. We're a similar to the Steelers with a physical defense and strong running game foundation and the money would be much greater than a t.v. analyst.

Dungy is a possibility too... leaving NY to coach a team in the AFC south and be close to his home in FL. It might be too soon for his return though.
