You can say this sums up the story of Jacksonville and why downtown has not progressed as other cities its size and smaller.

I understand there is a long standing pissing feud between two family's, the Sleimans and Peytons. So while our little "Duke of Duval" pisses into the wind, Sleiman and the City get the cold shoulder. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, this IS the popular urban rumour downtown that I have heard over and over. Progressive? Imagine a $15 million dollar + facility on the waterfront, and we'd rather keep the dirt and lease it then get it on the tax rolls!
Incredible... Bodes well for other waterfront development, can you spell CONVENTION CENTER?

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Would a 50 or 70 year lease on the land make a difference?
It would to me. If I am to drop a multimillion dollar facility on a piece of land, I want to be able to will it to my heirs.

VIA...I thought this was a topic on Starbucks instant coffee...

With that said...sell the land, let's get the Landing plan and parking going.  Come on!
