I'm using Michter's small batch rye whiskey. It's fantastic.
I'd say Jim Beam rye is definitely the problem. You wouldn't order a martini with Popov vodka, right? That's kind of what you're doing. With a cocktail like the sazerac where a lot of subtle flavors are at play, all rye's are not created equal.
Will keep you up to date on the new bottle of Herbsaint.
