No references to the Blue Angels?  According to their web site, they are at Jax Beach next weekend, November 7 and 8th.  I assume this is still on.

Edit: Just went to the City of Jax link and here is a bigger picture of the week, including the crowd favorite, Blue Angels:

Hey!  Whatever happened to just plain ol' COMMON SENSE!!

MASDjax

Yes, the Jacksonville Sea & Sky Spectacular is also a part of the Week of Valor on the Jacksonville Beach Oceanfront. The orginal post was specifically about all of the activities happening downtown. We want everyone to be aware of all the fun activities, including the air show. Thank you for mentioning!

MASD, the City should get the Blue Angels to do a slice of the show over Downtown.  I realize the regular routine might not be suitable for safety reasons, but a few flyovers down the river on a weekday before the weekend show would likely draw a big crowd just for the picture taking opportunities and increase interest in the other activities!

I want to see the Angles blast the afterburners right over top the main street bridge!  Might pop a few windows...  :)

Imagine this on the St. Johns!

Heh, I know it will never happen.

Jason

Another similar shot of an Angel doing this...

Now that WILL pop a few windows!

The Captain of the Klakring, Commander Scott Smith, is also giving a lecture on the book "Six Frigates" that is about the founding of the U.S. Navy.  It will be at the downtown library on Saturday the 7th from 11:00 to Noon.
When all else fails hug the dog.

Captain Zissou

I've never seen them at the beach before, I'm so excited.  One almost hit our boat when it did a barrel roll immediately after taking off.  I'm sure they planned it that way, but I was two thirds of the way to jumping into the river I was so scared.

The movies on the CSX building sound Awesome.  I plan to watch at least 1 just because of the sheer novelty of it.

Not too long ago I got to know one of pilots that did all the stunts and camera footage for Top Gun.

Call sign "Beaver"

He explained how to create the effect in the photo, and described all kinds of funny & amazing military & Top Gun stories.

The shot of the Angel passing low over the water is amazing.  The cloud surrounding the tail is just water vapor though many think that this is a sonic boom.  That was done at an airshow in the San Francisco harbor and any sonic booms would have been devestating to the boats, people, and nearby buildings.... especially at that height.  VERY illegal!

Dog Walker, thanks for mentioning the Book Talk by Commander Smith at the Main Library this Saturday. Commander Smith is an engaging speaker and he will also discuss his missions in Mediterranean Sea. More information can be found here:

Yes, we have a MATCH!  On Sunday, at 3 PM, hope they take a detour over the stadium.  A flyover may be the highlight of the game.  ;D I'll try to catch both Saturday and Sunday.
