I get $10/hr on unemployment. Thank god the Congress extended benefits another 13 weeks for states with an unemployment < 7% and another 26 weeks in states with  > 7%.  Durining the days M-F I am on  the net applying and interviewing.  I have to be available, and awake, during regular business hours to field these calls. I honestly feel my work is paying off. I study and review as well as practice interview questions and take on line tutorials.  Since the 2nd. week of January things have picked up.  Had I worked during this time I feel it would prevent progress.

Just out of interest whats your field, some of us on this site might be able to help.  Just an extension of networking.

Where can you find this information? Also, where do we fall; 13 or 26 weeks?

Are you already on unemp? What is the unemp rate in Fl? Tx is <. 7 so I only got a 13 week extension. I wonder if I move to IN would I get the other 13?

Yes, I am still collecting unemp. I found the link for FL. Looks like it kicks in automatically.

QuoteTALLAHASSEE â€" On Friday, November 21, 2008, President George W. Bush signed the Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2008, which increases the allowed amount of extended Unemployment Compensation benefits from 13 to 20 weeks.  The Act also authorizes up to an additional 13 weeks of “Second-Tier” benefits for states with a total unemployment rate at or above 6 percent.  Currently, Florida is one of numerous states authorized for “Second-Tier” benefits.

Qualified Floridians currently receiving benefits, and who subsequently exhaust their benefits, will receive the extension automatically, and their weekly benefits amount will remain the same.  Individuals who do not currently have an active claim, but may be eligible for the extension, will be mailed a notice/application advising them of the availability of extended benefits. An application may also be printed from www.fluidnow.com.
