Are the apartments on Kernan UNF housing?  UNF is one of the most dense campuses I have ever seen.  Especially considering it's surburban setting.  JTA shuttle service between St. Johns Town Center would be cost effective and popular

The apartments on Kernan are not part of UNF housing, but they are private student-only apartments.  UNF is opening a new housing complex on the eastern part of the campus that will have an entrance on Kernan.  No word yet on how this will effect the campus shuttle system, but the powers that be on campus are considering changing the loop to potentially be one-way or making the area around the arena an island and making cars turn around on both sides.  Both ideas seem a little silly.

It's only going to get more dense.  They're planning on replacing all the surface lots inside the loop with parking garages on the outer part of campus.  These surface lots will be replaced with new buildings until there is no longer any room inside the loop, at which point they'll start developing the eastern and northern sections of campus, along with the area in the First Coast Tech Parkway if they are able to acquire it.

I DON'T MEAN TO BOAST HERE but DAMN! Stillwater, Oklahoma can figure this out and FDOT - JTA - UNF can't?

Holy E#$&_P_(%*#y$!@^

I agree 100%.  It's not that hard, plus a SJTC extension would be a perfect test of branching out from campus.  The buses have to go out that way anyways since the Shell station on Gate south of JTB is the closest gas station.  Might as well at least have them take some passengers.

maybe we should compare the size of UNF with others before deciding that they (and the City/JTA) are inept...for example, Ock lists Okie State...well they have over 30,000 students....and UNF has just over 15,000!

This is true, however the bus serves the entire metro of Stillwater, on the Community Transit Grant from the feds. Every corner of the "city" of 39,000 is covered. Jacksonville's UNF is half the size, but our metro dwarfs Stillwater's at around 1.3 Million. You'd think at least one of those 1.3 Million, folks could figure out how to write such a grant.

I am a proud graduate of UNF, although I did have to clear up some parking ticket issues before they would actually give my the physical diploma.  That school has undergone such dramatic change in the last ten years of course parking is a problem. Who cares though, caaw caaww!
