Wow, I lived in Dallas for a few years and AT&T had invested a lot in the building and surrounding area like Discovery District. It cannot be more than 5 years old. While Downtown Dallas isn't the most vibrant district, it's leaps and bounds more happening than Jacksonville.

Dallas has some great areas surrounding the city core. We were in downtown Dallas for work last March for a few nights and I gotta say.... I was honestly shocked at how quiet that area actually was - both day and night. But I'll take $80 suite tickets for a Tuesday night Mavs game anytime as that was a blast.

I think DIA really wanted to project this idea of "we are on track to 10,000 residents downtown" rather than the much more realistic "It is going to take decades to get anything resembling a "vibrant" downtown like many peer cities.

10,000 residents including southbank and brooklyn is not anywhere near the key. 10,000 in North Core obviously would get us there, but they don't want to say it because there's just so little there right now, and other than Gateway, there's not a lot going up.
